So I'm thinking of trying out some Snap-on ratchets and watching eBay I sometimes see "rare" in the listings for hard handle ratchets that are red. And looking at the Snap-on site for a couple models, sometimes they don't list red.

So are there "standard" colors that are made all the time (maybe black, orange and green) and "special" colors that are not (like red and blue)?

I had to call in to order the hard handle ratchets as they weren't on their website. They only had yellow and blue on the .ca website, not green or red. Use the live chat/call and see.

Also a lot of people are custom making them from soft grip ratchets and calling them rare. Most of the time it cheaper to buy everything new and do it yourself, as they want way to much for them on eBay.

Why not find and go to your local Snap On guy? It sounds as if you aren't to concerned with price. My Snap On guy has every combination of size and style you could want in red hard handle ratchets. Yours might as well.

"Rare" on ebay is not always rare in the real world. Lots of new colors were re-issued recently. As long as retail pricing is OK, they are not rare. They are not common on secondary markets, however, so there is some supply/demand that comes into play with anything on ebay.

SO recently began re-releasing some colors. My driver has always had black, red, and orange on his truck. Maybe green too.

I just seen a bunch in my driver's shelf. He had most of the colors and he said it's not to popular in Hawaii as most people here buy either the soft grips or regular handles.

Yeah, maybe I'll see if I can find a local guy. I went on the website and did "Find franchisee" and after I selected that I was not a pro it said "order from snapon.com", so I took that as a hint to not find a local guy :)

Just search on snap on website for the ratchet that you want by the first three letters. Wait for the search results(not the drop down) and click on the non catalog box. It will show what colors are available. Or search Snap on by the part numbers that you are seeing on ebay. Sorry if this is what you have been doing already.

Example of a ratchet that is available above

and if fhl is searched and non catalog clicked
