I needed another ratchet while working on snowplow hydraulics, so I thought I would use my Craftsman pass-thru ratchet with the 3/8 square adapter. It fits in from the top, so as I was trying to use the ratchet, the adapter kept pushing out ...

The Walmart clearance special pass thru adapter loads from the bottom.

While I don't know which brand you got from Walmart, you are correct about Gearwrench rebranded to Craftsman and others. This seems to be the only actual bad design in those. I suppose GW doesn't get enough complaints to merit changing it. At least it's an adjunct instead of a core tool.

It was the absolute cheapest Walmart brand that they couldn't sell so they sent it to a discount store, where I bought it for even less. It interchanges pretty much with the Kobalt stuff from Lowes.
