My local HD seem to have a huge problem with letting me use the PCA on their computers. The insist I'm not allowed to....

Have you had any luck finding the Milwaukee bottoms for $280 recently?

I'm not interested at $280 but my PCA claims zero stock. If you really want one figure out what the UPC should be and if you can lay your hands on the boxes in your store find the matching UPC. If your store refuses to sell it to you call HD cust svc or ask the store mgr to get his district mgr on the phone.

It depends how bad you want it.

In this case you're not doing ANYTHING wrong or deceptive; you're just trying to buy UPC "XYZ" and if UPC XYZ is laid out as a standalone product at $280.00 on what grounds are they refusing to sell to you? (eg this might be your argument to customer svc).

Picked up the Milwaukee 60" Work Station today for $598. Not necessarily a super deal but at a hundred bucks off... I'll take it.

Have to admit I'm jealous of you sleuths with your super deals though... I don't even see where I'd have access to their computer(s) in my store or know what to do with it if I were to gain access :headscrat

Nope. See this. See how the UPC ends in 1? You're after that. Under the barcode on the packaging, ie the thing you scan at the register. If your packaging has some that end in 4 you got some that were supposed to be combos (not that I care - congrats!)

Oh okay, I see! I just checked them again and they match that UPC that end in 1. I'm keeping my eye on the dewalt bottom that I've seen others get for around $100. Hoping to score one of those!

I typically head to the pro desk and use one of those computers when I am able to (minus the times I catch resistance from employees 😑) There is a public use section within their system that has a tab for price checking. And then browse clearance by brand. That's at least how I go about it but would love to here how others do as well.

First, don't even try to use a computer during the weekend or peak hours. Usually too many employees around that need to use them anyhow. Not to mention other shoppers walk up to you thinking you work there wanting help... During the weekdays things are much slower.

I would typically use the computer by the garden section when I walk in for my initial searches of SKU's that I save on my phone from discussions here. Then after walking around the store I eventually go back to the appliance area as they have two computers, one near the front (which they always use) and one about halfway back between some rows of fridges (which gets used a lot less)... That's the one I typically use. If an employee asks what I'm doing I just tell them I'm checking the price on a couple items. Most just say "ok" and go on their way, some will stand there watching you at first but then quickly loose interest. I've even had a couple offer to look things up on their hand-helds... Obviously don't try looking for penny items with them watching.

If I'm looking for something that is at .02/.03 and an employee asks if they can help me, then I take up the offer and we go searching for said item to see if it exists... lol. I guess them looking busy searching for something is better than having to do other work.

Thanks for the explanation EOC. So are the computers behind a desk or anything, or just right out in the open?

Curious that you seem to be the only who can find them, though....

I neither made or implied "insults", was just responding to what you posted. Not sure why you are so defensive that you had to respond with insults to those trying to help you.

Which is exactly why so many felt compelled to respond. It is a great value, and your isolated post might cause someone to think it is not. Everyone is entitled to their opinion, but when your opinion is an outlier it's helpful to not that rather than stating it as if it were fact.

If you want to discuss this further, we should move to a different thread. Your original post and our many replies are not really on-topic for this thread.

Enough with the ******* match about Ridgid warranties. No one gives a damn, take it to private messages. This is like a sand box fight with 5 yr olds. Everyone, just let it go. You may care, no one else does.

How very pretentious and dishonest of you...

It took me approximately 0.5 seconds on google typing in "ridgid warranty *****" to pull up about a dozen threads on various forums of people having issues.

Don't really know why you are so wrapped up in pretending Ridgid is god's own power tool, but I think you should give it a rest and follow your own advice

Nothing crazy, but I noticed that my local HD has a lot more items marked down than usual. Even the saw blades are being marked down and I've never seen the Diablo blades marked down.

I've noticed this also. I rarely find deals at my HDs last night I posted about 10 items here. Thats a bonanza for me :bounce:

The increase in number of items marked down is a BAD thing, IMHO.

I feel like they are learning how much they are losing by having items on clearance that arent marked as such, etc.

That turns into a lot less stellar deals for all of us.

I typed in "ridgid warranty is rad" and got about 3 times the hits as you did, all in 0.3 second! I pulled 3 bakers dozens worth of threads saying how awesome ridgid was dealing with their claim under the LSA. Weird? Not to mention my personal experience with the process, has been nothing but awesome. But then again, I knew what UPC to send in (at the time it had to be sent in) or the correct model number, serial number and receipt code to enter in the online process. Which some of my tools were registered in less than 2 days. Other took about a business week due to the register dump I'm sure.

I noticed a slow down of deals in my store, I need to move where you guys live

Varies by store. At my local store, there is a desk and chair with a computer for public use right next to the customer service desk.

When I visit a store that does not have that table/desk with outward facing computer, I just go to the pro area which tends to have several computer stations and simply use one that is unattended. It is also very common for pro's to use a terminal to check/place orders etc so employees are expecting some of the public to use the terminals. In a past life when I was a Construction Project Manager, I did just that at Home Depot. Some stores tend to be more observant to you using them than others, not sure why but I expect it comes from the top when several employees ask what you are doing vs other stores who never even bother you.

I've found that using terminals in certain depts can draw more attention when you are actually noticed on the terminal. For example, appliance guys never let up once they actually see me on the terminal. I've gotten all kinds of comments/excuses when using one in the appliance dept. "we can get in trouble" "you are not supposed to use this" "what are you trying to do, that is not allowed" etc. Don't know why but in various stores that dept seems more concerned that any other.

Things that greatly help,
1. Be nice at all times when dealing the employee and never demand or imply that they are required to let you use a terminal.
2. Politely explain you are just checking prices on a few items
3. If they ask or imply they need the terminal, ask them if there is one you can use to look up some items on HD website.

I've always been able to use a terminal, with consent, at any HD I've visited.

I did talk about deals?

Not you yosh. That was directed at the few who keep harping on the damn warrant non stop.

One hd I was in last night still had those pruners 10.03. I imagine they'll penny this week. That ropeless one you posted is the one that gets bad reviews. I think it's 20.03 everywhere.

The computers in the appliance area are used to place appliance orders and to take payments for said orders. While the appliance associates are not paid on commission they are tracked and rated by the amount of sales they generate every hour. Probably not the best ones to use.

I've used those many times with the appliance guy doing paperwork next to me. I'll make some small talk as we each are doing our thing, they don't care if you use them.

My store has a computer set up for public use right at customer service desk. Possibly to keep a watchful eye on people using it. Not sure.

When I heard about the $349 deal on the 60" Milwaukees I was in my store. I knew the deal wouldn't last long so I tried to order on my phone but forgot my phone will NEVER finalize an order on their site. I can ALWAYS get to the submit order stage but NEVER proceed beyond that to an order confirmation.

So I ran over to the Pro Desk and used their link to their website to place my order :)

My appliance dept has the computers at sit-down desks, those are definitely for salespeople (but I still hop on them if no one is around). They also have a standing computer I use a lot.

Doors & windows aka millworks is great after hours, but during the day they're manned.

They don't really care that much. A few employees might get pissy because they are idiots but 98% don't care. The public computers are for a number of things including signing up for a job at HD. I've shown a few employees some of the features of the comp's, they have no clue what they do for the most part.
