Runt262 I don't have a good answer for you this is the only way I've seen a pole building done[emoji848] The one we had done at my Dads place in eastern WA 35 yrs ago is still just as solid as it was the day it was built do e the same way.

Good to know! I have never put up a pole barn myself. Didn't know if it was just a preference of the builder, or a cost savings.

I know where I am (Southern Ontario), moisture would likely be the demise of the wood. Great looking build though and looking forward to updates!

Havent had time to play... I mean WORK in the shop as life gets in the way. GF's grand daughter turned 2 so we went to her party. My sons better half is having her baby shower at the city house this Friday so have been making it presentable for 30 or so people[emoji33]and I got talked into smoking 6 or 8 racks of ribs for it so no time to go to the ranch[emoji12]



Wasn't a Total loss last WE found these on Craigslist, all 3 for $100

Well sorry for the long delay for an update but have been busy with work and life in general. Since I last checked in we flew to central Washington helped my Father sort through 40+ years of collecting at his place in Plain, WA in preparation for their move to a new house they are building to downsize. Overloaded a 26' U Haul full of things he did not have room for in the new place closer to town. Drove back to TX the week of Thanksgiving unloaded it down at the ranch and made it to work Monday morning for some rest[emoji16]

Swung through Seattle to pick this up from my Mothers place, was my Step Dad's Mothers that she cooked on every day!

Had the gutters installed on the building

Welcomed a new Grandson to the fold[emoji7]

Set up the work from "Home" desk

Put up some mood lighting [emoji16]

Sat down for 5 min on the new porch chairs a friend brought us as a house warming gift.

The first week of Dec we went on a 7 day cruise to Cozumel, Grand Cayman, and Jamaica

When we got back we took the 2 older grandkids to Holiday in the park at 6 flags, they had a blast me I was wiped out at the end of the day.

Got some racks up and sorted some of the boxes of treasures from my Dads place we brought back


Got the mechanical area started

Started on the woodworking area


And framed the first wall section!

JB, The house is around 1,800 sq ft and the shop will be about 3,000

Building more wall sections


Time for some trenching to lay drain pipe so we can channel the water from the gutters away from the building.

Thanks, grandson is my second and I love seeing them as much as I can.

The backhoe is a 3pt Woodmaxx 8600 and on the Massey Ferguson 30B it works Great. The tractor is an industrial version and is big enough and strong enough that it handles the 3pt backhoe just fine.

Well it been a while since I've updated anything here. Since the last update we were back in E Washington helping my father clear out the last of the things in his shops at the old place and drove another 26' u-haul back to Texas loaded to the ceiling [emoji33]

Okay we got some of the haul from my Dad's place put away and have been busy getting this back on track.
Had the drive way done so no more getting stuck in the red clay every time it rains.


Planted some grass to keep the yard from washing away



Put up temp housing for the tractor


Got the water connected and run into the building

It been awhile since I have updated this thread, been dealing with issues at the city house after the major hail storm damage. Seem to be back on track and getting some things done.



Most of the plumbing is done, electrical is next.

Got sidetracked with blown seal on the FEL cylinder on the Massey Ferguson.

Well since that is fixed now had to mow

They are treated to resist pests and mold or rot, they are pre-cut at 92.5” to make 8’ walls when framing.

Been busy finishing up other things but didn’t get pictures yet, finally got internet out there, installed security camera system with 4tb hard drive that I can view remotely, reinforced the doors and installed Medco Maxum dead bolts.

Picked up a new gooseneck trailer to haul longer lumber and more supplies than my 10’ pipe trailer can hold.

Have been busy at the city house as well, laid new St Augustine sod after fighting the **** grass that the builders put in 13 years ago.
