Yeah its common in many ag machine store sheds. Guys will run 8 or 10 ft exterior pro ribbed tin on the inside to protect the insulation and possibly reduce rodent, bird and moisture getting to it.

Its only downside is makes it difficult and awkward to mount anything to. Especially shelves.

My shop walls were done in 3/4 plywood. Makes it easy to mount pretty much anything. Even somwhing a little heavy doesn't need a stud like drywall because the plywood is pretty stout.

I am planning a combination of drywall and some 'reclaimed' roofing for a few areas, to break up the drywall.

I've had Sheetrock and OSB in previous shops. Went with metal this time around. No regrets at all. Any shelves I have are shallow pallet racks and my benches are free standing so I don't worry too much about mounting things to the wall. If I needed to it wouldn't be too hard.
I think the metal looks kinda slick too...but I may be biased

Put a few tables in there and you'll be serving Chipotle burritos.

I used MDF I bought from a ping pong table manufacturer that was going to China. The size was odd, but I managed to get very good use from the pieces. They were something like 5ft X 6ft, but the price was excellent.:)

Problem with this is the "cost" of 3/4 plywood..
cheap chip board is just that, but 3/4 ply is awesome other than the price..
Can always use the ply at the level of shelves and the metal below and above..

I agree with the price issue for sure. My shop had the ply up before it was even mine. If i were starting over i probably wouldn't have that much budget to work with.

I am planning to use metal in certain places on the walls.
My current plan is to use 4x8 or 4x10 sheets of 26ga, flat, non-galv sheet metal, and let it age naturally (here in AZ bare metal doesn't really rust indoors..)
Since drywall is the cheapest sheathing material, I plan to use it underneath the sheet metal, and on the other surfaces that won't get metal. No need to tape joints under the metal.

I found 4x10 sheets for about $22 putting it at 55 cents a sq foot. With drywall it is 86 cent a sq ft.

I'm still finishing up the 2nd half of my barn, but so far I'm digging the Galvalume ceilings and walls. I plan on one section of wall in my back "storage" room to put plywood on the lower 8' to be able to hang garden tools, etc.

How big is your garage?

I have a two car and hang allot of things from the walls using a combination of taplock and slatwall.

Couldn't survive without a flat surface to attach everything to.

Can I ask where you bought the material in Az? That is a really good price. I am putting it on my garage ceilings. Thanks!

question for the guys that have metal interior walls,

does it seem like sound bounces around a lot VS drywall/plywood walls?

seems to me that all that metal would be reflecting sound...:headscrat

Hello fellow NW Indiana-er

I only have metal walls on one side of my shop, around 45 feet long

The other side is wood house siding, since my garage was built off the original outside wall of the house

I have not noticed any noise bouncing or louder than normal noises inside.....behind the metal panels are paper faced insulation

I'll have to take your word for it. No Chipotle restaurants in my neck of the woods.

I don't find sound bounces any more than any other garage I've been in. The surface isn't flat so that may help. Plus, there's usually a vehicle of some type parked in each bay so that would cancel some sound reflection if there was any.

Yes it will reflect sound.. just like a room in a house with hardwood floor instead of carpet does..
But if you are hammering away or grinding, cutting/etc you should have ear protection..
A few pieces of self sticking roofing rubber water guard (or what ever it's called in a roll 12" tall) on the back side to dampen the metal just like dyno mat does in cars.. once the panel is up you'll not see it, and it's cheap

It does reflect sound more/echo slightly, but it's not unbearable, a slight echo in the side I'm currently finishing up, but that's only because there is nothing else in there... Either way the tunes are normally cranked so I never notice the difference.

I’m planning to do my 30x40 pole barn interior walls and ceiling in metal sheeting. I live in SE Indiana and not getting much use in winter without insulation and interior walls. I love the photos you guys posted of your shops. They all look great. I really like the look of the walls D45 installed especially.

I used rib panels, osb, T1-11. The metal is instant gratification.
