Hey Everyone,
I am just about to pull the trigger and cover my garage floor. I have been racking my brain on the design. After many many different designs, I have come up with the three below designs. Just having a hard time making the decision.

Looking for opinions on what you think looks the best, or other ideas.

It is a three car garage, Heavily used and a favorite hang out spot in my home, which houses tools, work bench, tool boxes, Beer fridge, kegerator, shelving, my Sand Rail, a 68 Roadrunner, and or Jeep, depending on the season.

I appreciate your opinions.

First is too busy. I like the second one but I'd move the design up and to the left one row/column and put a solid border around the entire design...that centers it up. Like this:Floor design.jpg

Thanks for your input. The left and right sides will be unseen due to shelving, and the front Bottom gets a 2" Black edge.
I do like the idea though as the extra row all around does center everything.

I agree that design #2 looks the best. I'm going with diamond tiles and a 2'x2' (4 tile) checkerboard in two colors for my 3 car garage. I thought about doing a more involved pattern/border, but gave up after I realized my single door side is offset in about 18" from the main 2 door garage.

I really like squares 5. I like the red border to make the single red squares "pop". Although similar, number 4 has a lot going on and may be a little busy. Is this going to be the Freeflow tiles or Diamond?

I am a big fan of simple bordered designs. In my opinion you should go with your very first design, but fill the inside of the red border with alloy tiles, and fill the outside with black or graphite. The other designs are a bit too busy for my taste.

Good luck with your decision. You will love the floor no matter the design you choose.

I am leaning towards circle track tiles. Diamond plate is everywhere. Just wanting a nice clean appearance, that is easy to clean.

Also, I am thinking the circle track tiles will be smoother for rolling carts, tool trays, and such, as well as on knees/body when working low on the cars.

Now you're getting crazy with the weave stuff. I agree with squares 5. Simple and not too busy. Just the right amount color pop without being over bearing.

Definitely #6. #5 is too busy. I don't care for the weave at all. Remember - once you get the cars in the garage you won't see the entire pattern.

I'm liking #6 just enough red to make it stand out, #7 would be a close second with the border and no dots, now you have me thinking about my floor.....hmmm

I like the Square 5 alot, I have the same type of boarder in my garage. Sorry its different color, but it pops. it would pop on yours even more with a pattern matching it.

I could probably go purple instead of the red and pull it off, but too much purple may be too much of a good thing?

Thanks to all for the insight and input.

I have selected pattern #5 in CircleTrack pattern, and just finished placing my order.

Now comes the hard part of getting my stuff outta the way so I can get this done quickly when it gets here.

Again, Thanks for your help, and I will post pics upon completion.

Started clearing stuff out tonight to make moving the shelving out easier. Racedeck should be here tuesday or so. Want to have it ready to knock it out. Tooo much ****..
Will be doin the floor under the back wall vidmar, tool boxes, fridge and bench later, as moving it all out at once would just add to the difficulty. The bench is a 3'x10' steel bench.
Just funished remodeling my daughters room too, so furniture leftovers are adding to the pile. Thankfully the roadrunner is out getting a new trans and gear swap I Had neither the time nor inclination to do, and i have the room right now. Got to have this done before she comes home.
Main garage side before.

Be careful with white or light colored tiles. They are hard to keep clean. Just my experience.

I always tell people white tiles are like white T-Shirts on my four year old. They are cute for about five minutes

The alloy, even though its pretty light does a good job of looking clean. Any more I stay away from real dark (Black) and white. You would think after a decade and a half I would have known better than to use black tiles in our entry to our showroom :dunno:

This is not a showroom garage so no white here. Not sure anything that enters the garage white lasts very long. I tried to stay minimal on the black, but for what I wanted to do it was a necessity. We will see how it turns out.

I plan to put something under it for noise reduction. What make model did you use, and where did ya get it?

Well. I got an excess amount, but I figured I would use the rest for around the house garden and remulching.

as far as im aware, this is a the correct fabric, racedeck said synthetic material, its synthetic. I hope it allows dry air to circulate under it. tho my garage is a 99% dry garage. showroom more than use. park car if hail happens but otherwise no.

Here's mine in a similar pattern. Love it. The white doesn't get any dirtier than the others as nothing sticks to it. I shop vac, blow, and shark steam mop it about once a month in the winter and less in the other seasons.

Just wondering......
You planning on moving your stuff to one side of the garage and laying down the fabric and Racedeck then moving stuff to the other side and completing the install? I was hoping to do the same as very difficult for me to empty entire garage to install entire floor at one time.
I recall reading a post that doing install that way leads to problems with either tiles sliding or expansion issues. Not really sure why but I did read that more than once.
Anybody have experience doing install the way I described above?

I thought of doing it that way, but decided to just pull everything into driveway and knock it out. I dont want to run into fitment issues like you said.
Im not doing my elevated section of garage where my bench, fridge, boxes are at the moment, so that makes this much easier to get stuff cleared out temporarily. Good time to get rid of stuff i no longer need at the same time.
Tiles are scheduled to arrive tuesday, i plan to get-er-did on wednesday.

Thinking to give RaceDeck a call to find out exactly why laying down 1/2 floor and moving contents from one side to the other as working through install is a big no no. Moving entire contents outside garage not an option for me right now.
Good luck on install and get some pictures posted so we can all see the transformations!

Thanks to everyone who viewed or chimed in with opinions on the RaceDeck plans for my garage.

I just completed the floor this morning about 6 am. It was just me doing the deck install all night, so it took a bit longer than I planned, but it turned out great. I still have a little trim to do in a few places, but that should not take too much time.

The hardest part was getting everything out of the garage. This took a couple evenings. While everything was out, I decided to put garage floor paint on the stepped areas around the garage to have a nice clean appearance. I also painted about 1.5" from the edges on the main floor, so it looks clean with the 1/2 " gap from the RaceDeck to wall edges (the 1/2" gap is for possible expansion). I also painted the little strip of concrete in front of the garage doors to driveway, and a few inch stripe just above the stepped areas inside the garage, so when the steps get decked, it will all look clean on the bullnose step.

While I had all my shelving out, I decided it was a good time to clean and paint the walls. I went with a grey/silverish color to somewhat match the alloy racedeck color as well as my shelving and craftsman pro box. I will paint the rest of the garage soon.

I would recommend removing everything from the whole garage to do this, as if you were off a little bit doing it one side at a time, it might make the whole place off a little in the end. There were a few times I had to shimmy the floor deck floor during installation to get the spacing from the walls corrected as the tiles tightened up as more got connected, and the larger the floor got, the tougher the shimmying became. If I had been doing one side at a time, this would not have been possible.

As for the quality of the product. I had ordered some extra pieces as "cheap insurance" against any potential product issues. I can happily report that out of the 600 or so pieces I installed, every piece was perfect, I did not need any of the extra pieces at all, all quantities and colors were received as ordered. I did put some landscape cloth under it to keep noise down, and even with nothing in the garage, it is pretty quiet. I used a Large rubber mallet to lay the tiles, and it made snapping them together very simple. Oh, in the package, was a free shirt, and a couple stickers. SWEET!

INSTALLATION HINT: Use a soft grip when you hit them with the mallet, and let the weight of the mallet do the work, not your arm and they snap together quicker/easier. Wish I knew that trick in the beginning. Also, as you lay the tiles, do not kneel on the tiles you have already placed, as this sometimes makes it a lil more difficult for the floor to flex and snap together.

I did have some cheap labor (Kids) to help move stuff and prep before they had to go to bed, a little later than normal, but the help was appreciated. I would definitely recommend having a helper to lump the tiles around while you lock em down. This would have saved a tremendous amount of time.

All in all, the install is simple, and the real work is in the preparation of the garage.

All tiles are RaceDeck CircleTrac: Black, Red, Alloy, Graphite.

Here are some pics of the project.

Now that I have got a few hours of sleep, I will get back out there, finish the trim pieces, and start putting everything back. UGH !

Once, the main garage floor is complete, and everything put back together, I will begin on the workbench area and side entry areas.

Let me know your thoughts. Thanks for lookin.

Will do. This forum is so addicting, i now have more ideas to make this garage that has served me well for over ten years even better, and more useful. My wife is even happy with the garage now, which is a big step up.
Trying to clear old stuff out also, but it is hard to do, as I am sure that as soon as something is gone I will need it the next day. Makes me a bit of a pack rat. I have a 40' sea container, pretty much full also.. ugh.
