A lot of confusion in my HD tonight over the Milwaukee boxes. PCA had 2 of the top boxes for $50 listed as inactive. There were 4 complete sets on display for $698 even though the PCA had only 1 set listed as in stock. Then there were 2 additional full sets wrapped together in the overhead.

After a lot of confused looks on 5 different employees faces, I got 2 tops for $50. They ended up breaking up the overhead sets even though they were hesitant. Not sure what I ended up with because of all the different SKUs, UPCs, etc, but I'm happy. Bought 1 for me and 1 for the brother-in-law, but he says he doesn't have the room since he just bought a new car. Now I have an extra:dunno:

Thanks for posting, but I wouldn't have posted that particular item. That is not a regularly carried item, as it was a special order for that store. Which is why it says "this item only." I can guarantee you won't see it anywhere else.

Doesn't just have to be special order, they'll do this to mark down damaged or missing-parts items too.

2 weeks ago the deal of the day was Schlage locks. They came delivered in the cardboard box like this instead of the white boxes in the store. They are Internet only pieces. More than likely somone/s ordered a bunch and returned them

My store seems to do the "this item only" stickers on some penny items. They cover up the original UPC with the sticker.

2-pack Ryobi batteries finally went down to $59 at my store, the same one EOC_Jason shops at. I'm surprised given this store's lackluster clearance. Milwaukee chests still holding at full price and they have a billion of them.

Oddly one store I saw had two allegedly "refurbished" welders, the Lincolns that went ~$125 in some stores. But this wasn't a clearance situation (I checked PCA) they clearly had been used. One box had "RTV" written all over it and so I was like hell no! The tool guy swore Linciln had been through them. One was purchased and then re-appeared a week later. Yeah, I bet it worked great.

Anyway they have the "this item only" stickers on them and they're still at $320 and it took several price drops thus far to even get there. The tool guy was trying to tell me that's "like $200 off retail" and I was thinking no way when you can get gently used 110 wire feeds on CL for $250 or less all the time.

I wasn't really interested, I was just fascinated as someone who works in the trade daily listening to the employee's "knowledge." :)

Makita 36 volt hammer drill still at $180 from august of 2015. No single boxes around here.

Yep and the Makita 36Vx2 saw won't move off $100. But the district south of me has 'em full boat retail. As somebody once said, never ask why HD does anything.

Something weird happened with pricing at my store. An item was .06 for a few weeks while I was watching it. Yesterday the price dropped slightly but to .00, did not go to .03 yet. Not the Norm...

Then they would have gone back RTV (return to vendor). any internet order that is not an in-store pickup of in-store stocked product will be sent back. Even if it is something the store carries, but is delivered to you, it will go back. The only time this doesn't happen is when they do a special return, usually not involving the original receipt, resulting in the store being stuck with the product.

This. I stood at HD for 15 minutes yesterday while they painstakingly labelled every single piece of Schluter trim I had ordered for ship-to-home and didnt use (backstory: Schluter tile trim is really nice stuff, but sizing it is a PITA and its hard to get so order 2 sizes!)

20 pieces of trim, 1 label per. Felt bad for the returns lady but as she said "I have nothing else to do, so this is fun!"

The buy of the day is a 9 piece Dewalt 20V MAX Combo kit.. Any reason to stay away from it? http://www.homedepot.com/SpecialBuy/SpecialBuyOfTheDay

http://toolguyd.com/dewalt-20v-max-9pc-power-tool-combo-kit-deal-h2015/

I think Id only be upset about the 2.0Ah packs, the rest seems OK. My problem with DeWalt has always been there are X different variations of a basic drill, so you need to know exactly which one you are getting before you can make an informed decision.

Drills aren't even XR either, it appears

Plus dewalt doesn't have the awesome LSA that ridgid has. Something to very seriously consider...

25 pack of Avanti Pro cutoff disks were a penny at my local HD yesterday. I have 125 of them now. :)

Where are you finding the discs in the store? I can only find singles hanging in the tool section. Are they in a different location in your store?

From the perspective of a homeowner, I prefer smaller battery packs. Cheaper, less bulky, and weigh less. Also seem easy to buy for a lot less than retail on eBay or CL from people that got them in a combo pack and don't need/want them.

Even with the 2.0 packs that I use, I rarely run out of juice during a project, and when I do, I just pop in the other battery and start recharging the dead one. I don't use battery-powered tools for high-draw tasks like sawing though, so YMMV.

They were on the bottom of a small display in front of the lumber section (in the vicinity of the pro desk at my local store) where they keep the contractor pack saw blades, drill bits, screwdriver bits, etc. I had to go digging around for them myself when someone posted them at $6.30 a couple of weeks back.

What size? Sku would be helpful if you have it.

4.5", looks like my wife tossed the receipt already but if you search back through my posts from 2-3 weeks ago in this thread someone posted a picture that has it listed there.

Same here. For some tools, the higher capacity batteries are probably a must have, but for my 1/4" impact driver and drill, the 2.0 batteries last quite a while on a charge. Didn't hurt that I snapped up a two pack of the 2.0 batteries on clearance a couple of years back for $45. So I can keep a battery on each tool and have one in reserve.

Saw a oddity just now at a nearby store.

These were on clearance months ago and long gone last year from my local stores @75.03. Today I see one in the rafters and think, "hmm, maybe penny or at least cheaper than the 75.03 price." Nearly kill myself getting it down (its heavy) and go to self checkout, do a price check and have that penny ready but no, it now rings up at $229.

Saw those back on 2/11. Had a $229 Date of 11/29/16. Was it .03 in the computer or was that an old pic? I remembered those too and checked when I saw them.

Pretty sure those had the SD affect of people calling, they went back to 229 here like a week after hitting 75.03 on the pca. a couple still show 75.03 on the pca but will ring up 229, the same prices they have it on the website for.

They were all the correct sku (1001243468). I got three at one store and 2 at another. There's not another one around me at any store within 100 miles from what I can see

There are definitely some within a 100 miles of you. I picked up 2 last night.

Found one of these at my local store yesterday as well. It was sitting on the clearance rack, clearly marked with a yellow clearance sticker for $75.03. I too thought I had found a lost gem - having bought one at the same store back in November 2016 for $75.03 - but it was not to be. Lugged it all the way to the SCO to find it rang up $75.03 (cheaper than the one above - but I would have thought it would have been priced a penny as well given the date on the sticker - 11/16). Was not happy, especially as I once again hefted the box off the SCO register and carried it back to the clearance shelf. Since I don't resale, and couldn't find anyone amongst my family or friends who seem to want the tool set, I put it back. However, if it had been a penny, I would have found space in my garage to store it as you can never have enough tools - especially when it would have been essentially free.
