Questions for the Snap On Guys Like Chadster

Hey guys my friend has a 2008 chevy malibu. But when we tried to change his oil filter we couldnt get a good grip on the oil filter. So of the guys are saying that snap on makes a special socket for that. Would u guys happen to know the part number by any chance. I need to order one thanks

I was just looking at the fitments, not sure about the 2008.

If it is a 4 cyl ecotec then this is what you need.

If it is an ecotec motor then that socket will work. They didn't change the size of nut on top of the oil filter canister.

I have that and it works great. The Lisle one I used before always got stuck on the housing... I once left it on and had to wait for the customer to return for the next oil change.

the lisle ones are cheaper and look to be made quickly. the snap on ones are like regular sockets.

It should work fine on the hybrid. I did some digging and they both call for the same oil filter.

Wow, that socket looks handy!

I have the 2.0 supercharged Ecotec (LSJ) and the oil filter sits RIGHT UNDER the blower snout, you have to weasel a big socket under the blower and hold it steady while you drop an extension through the top...its a pain.

I'll be picking up one of these low profiles, probably Matco though.

I have the 2.0 supercharged Ecotec (LSJ) and the oil filter sits RIGHT UNDER the blower snout, you have to weasel a big socket under the blower and hold it steady while you drop an extension through the top...its a pain.

Yes that socket will make your life much easier when you change the oil on your car.
