Making plans to build a shop. I have to move my utility feed since it runs under where I plan to put my shop.

Just did a load calculation and I come up with 100 amps for the house which has a 200 amp service. This is with allowance for an electric dryer and range. Our range and dryer are both NG so this for the next owner.

Looks like the 200 will be sufficient for my needs. shop is hobby stuff as commercial is against the covenants of this addition.

Since I am essentially getting a new service I can get a new dual feed meter pan and have a main panel in the shop or just run it as 100 amp sub panel.

Can you run a 100 and 200 amp panel from a 200 service or would I have to up the service?

100 should be ample for my shop.

The way I always look at it, if your starting fresh, over build it, because it's easier to go bigger now than 10 years from now. Especially if your getting dual feed, just go 200 in the house and 200 in the shop
