Hello All,

I've lurked on this forum for about 5-years and it has been a constant source of inspiration. I've read a bunch a bunch of the epic threads and am humbled by the number of incredibly talented people that participate here. I'm a massive hack by comparison, but I'm ready to try and contribute a bit!

I have a small 10x25 shop in Sammamish, Washington. I'm mostly interested in maintaining/upgrading boats and bicycles, as well as the normal home repair. I've primarily done woodworking and smaller projects in the past, but am really interested in expanding my skills. I am currently building a 8' rowboat to strengthen my epoxy/fiberglass skills. I'm also interested in metal work and am taking welding lessons to increase my knowledge. I just tried TIG at my last lesson and really enjoyed it. Attached is picture of my bench, and the boat I am working on. I look forward to contributing!

Welcome to the site and Hello from the City of Destiny! ;)
Hi four.cycle, I grew up down in the Des Moines/Burien area and used to make it down to Tacoma fairly often. Good memories at Katie Downs Pizza and a few other establishments! Thank you for the warm welcome!

We built you guys some aluminum docks a couple years back. Welcome to the forum!
Hi Musicinabottle, thank you for the welcome. I'm hoping getting active on the forum will pressure me in to to being a bit more productive in the shop! Guessing you made a dock/float that ended up on Lake Sammamish? Lots of super nice docks down there. It's a beautiful lake (albeit super busy these days).

TW: welcome from Burien and good to see that you've been busy reading and learning skills since you've been a member almost as long as i have. I probably lurked a good 5 years cause Google would almost always send me here in a search for old tools and stuff.

great looking shop and boat and i'd like to start welding myself after i get done with my deck and fence project while spiffing up our backyard.

take care and welcome again to the forum and hope to see you posting a lot and maybe starting a thread or two also.

Welcome. Nice looking work shop and boat.
Hi ajohno, thanks for the greeting from down under. The international participation on this forum is awesome. I spent my honeymoon in Sydney and the Whitsundays. It was way too long ago -- I cannot wait to get back to your part of the world again!

Hey drivesitfar! You hit the nail on the head... i've spent more hours than I'd care to admit perusing this site. More than anything it has really made me want to improve my skills. I'm a desk jockey by day, but as I get older I find myself having a big desire to create stuff with my hands.

BTW-I grew up in the Burien area! Kennedy grad 1984. My mom and one brother are still in the area so I go down quite a bit. Thank you for the welcome.

It was a government job we did for fish and game. It was something like 12 docks. I had to get certified to weld on that job.

Hey Tim,
Welcome to the mayhem! I grew up in/near Sammamish, went to Pine Lake Jr High back in the late 1970s. Had a 12' wooden sailboat on Pine Lake the summer of 1980 or 1981. Sure has changed since then!

Good luck with the bikes & boats!

Hey AirJunky,

Holy smokes has Sammamish changed! We've lived here almost 20-years, and it is barely recognizable from when we moved here. Its gotten a bit crazy for my tastes, and the traffic really *****.

That must have been a sweet gig sailing a nice little woody on Pine Lake back in the day. I'm hoping to get a sailing rig for mine, and use it up in the Puget Sound/San Juans. Thank you for the kind words/welcome.
