Anyone have any experience with asta brand doors? I believe it is horizon steel that sells these doors out of Atlanta GA. I'm looking for 2 12x12 and 1 12x14 roll up doors. This place has pretty good prices and seems to sell a lot of doors. Just haven't found many reviews on them. Hoping someone here has some experience with them.

Thanks.

I had one installed in a metal carport garage. Seems like a good quality door. Mine has an external padlock sliding lock. So no way to open it from inside. Opens and closes easily. Mine is a 10 x 10 door.

I looked at the web sight too because I'm in the market for roll up doors but it did say to be installed by them only. I'm in south texas so that might be expensive for them to come down and install. Just something to consider.

I have four Asta doors and installed them myself. Three 16 X 10 and one storage unit door. The three large doors are chain drive, and the storage unit door has exterior slide lock. Real happy with the quality. They have been in for eight years now.
I bought the insulated ones with the foil faced bubble wrap; just had one door that the insulation has come loose from the center.
A word of advice: doors normally come wrapped in foam, and are susceptible to shipping damage. Mine had some minor creases in the metal, and some paint scuffing. Crating is available for an extra charge, but you need to ask about it.

that's good to know that you installed yourself. When I looked at the installation of the door I picked I get this. "A. Installation: to be by Asta Door Corporation authorized representative according to Asta Door Corporation standards and instructions.

I talked to the guy at the distributor the other day about installation. He mentioned to me that most people install them theirselves. Sent me a document on the installation instructions and sent me a link to a video. Which I have lost right now. I was quoted 610$ for a 12x12. (Add 3% for color is what I was told) can't quite remember the price on 12'w x 14'h. Seems like it was 715$. Those were with chain hoists. Automatic openers added $550 I believe.

I have all the information saved on my iPad at the house right now and do not have it with me. I went with their level 3 of 4 door. It is considered a light commercial door by their standards.

I said 'damn they look familiar- series numbers and all'

Then I read:

"Asta Door started when Jim French purchased the Georgia division of Porvene/McKee in 1990."

I bought 4 Porvene doors, out here in CA. Same door.

IMO, buy from the closest manufacturer/distribution location...

I haven't but the company is very good at getting info to you. And will call to make sure you got everything needed. They would know what will work.

Update:

Wanted to come revisit and update this thread. I ended up driving over and picking up my 3 roll up doors. Company was very busy and moving a lot of doors out every minute it seemed. I purchased 2 12'x12' and 1 12'w x 14'h doors. The 12'x14' I splurged and got the electric opener with. I have put up and completed the 2 12'x12' doors. Everything went smooth and they looked great. Installation instructions and videos were decent.

I have the 14' door open and mounted but do not have the electric opener on it yet. The instructions were vague and I couldn't find a whole lot at first. I have since found what I needed an am just waiting on making myself a bracket for the motor. Door looks great and I hope it turns out well also.

The doors I purchased are not insulated, I am having some rain (water) pool up at the very bottom of one side of the door. It's blowing and hitting the door, then running down the guide rails. I do need to try and figure out something to fix this issue.
