Hi everyone! New member here from Mississippi. I bought 4.5 acres last fall in a nice neighborhood and the home has been under construction since November. I didn't think I'd be able to squeeze in a garage at the same time but It's a go so now I've gotta settle on a final design.

I'll be using this to house any toys as well as doubling as a workshop. I like to do my own maintenance, etc. As far as size I'm thinking 36Wx32D with 12ft walls so I can fit 10ft tall doors. I'm thinking one 10ft wide and one 16ft wide. 10ft tall doors aren't needed for me right now but I figured if I ever decided to get a boat I could make it fit without much of an issue. The walls will be finished sheetrock. I'm gonna leave the floor alone because I'll probably put down race deck or a similar covering. I plan on putting in a toilet and sink as well as stairs that lead to a bonus/storage room. The exterior will need to match the house so it'll be a mixture of brick and fiber cement siding.

This is a quick little sketch I came up with, thoughts? Stairs and bathroom missing but it's a general idea. I think it'll match the house pretty well like this

The house will look pretty close to this once it's complete, I'm using brick instead of Hardie and stone except for the gables above the front porch which will still be fiber cement siding.

A picture of the lot, I marked the house location and my proposed garage spot.

Here's a couple pictures from the road.

I'm actually in Starkville as well! The house is being built in Tupelo so I'm only here temporarily.

Welcome to the forum. Looks like a nice place you will have when done. I'm looking forward to more pictures as it progresses.

Nice garage plan, nice lot, I'm sure a matching nice house... and nice truck! Mine is Summit White/Cocoa dune sand as well, at least from what I can tell from your photo :)

Yes sir! Right on the money with the truck config, mines a 2500HD though.

Garage looks pretty nice! Have you thought of making it a little bigger by making the left door the same size as the right?
That bit of extra footage could really be helpful down the road.
What program did you use to make the drawing?

It would put me over budget, unless I took out depth to make up for it. I used google sketchup for drawing.

widen the space between the doors, looks small.

It's 2ft in the middle, 4ft on the sides. That should be adequate? I had thought about widening both doors so that it would be 2ft on the sides as well.

if you think you might ever get a boat with a T-Top or an RV that you want to park in the garage, then you will want to have a 14' tall door.

I don't think I'd have an RV but a boat is a possibility. It would clear under a 9ft door though so I'm considering dropping the ceiling to 10ft.
