Hammer storage??

I posted this question in a old thread and didn't get very many responses so thought I would try again.

I made a video celebrating 500 subscribers and in the process collected most of the hammers in the shop.

I had them in drawers in the tool chests, on shelves and under work benches.

What I need is a good way to store the hammers so that they are easily accessible, and not taking up drawer or floor space, and while peg board would work I don't think that is the right answer for me.

I will have a 3 foot by 8 foot tall wall right next to the main work bench as soon as I build it and am thinking of some type of rack that will hold a majority of the hammers.

What have Ya'll done to solve this issue

Video of the hammers for reference.
2nd video for fun getting the hammers I have picked up in the last year ready for use.

I cannot post pictures (not home, traveling) but at the end of my workbench I added a little gap (2x4x?) and a 1x4 along the depth. I just store the hammers there. I find it very convenient for me.

Hey guy,
After going through all the threads and searching the net for more ideas here is what I came up with to work in my situation.

Enjoy.

I store mine in a deep drawer in my bottom box. They're stacked on top of each other but this hasn't bothered me. Claw hammers are where they belong, on pegboard in my wall cabinet with other woodworking tools.

Watched the video. Pretty cool hammer rack. I liked seeing the template through to the final product. I keep all my hammers just thrown messily in the big bottom drawer of my toolbox. I'd like to store them so they were handy and out but I can't due to spiders. Anything not closed up in my garage becomes a spiderwebpocalypse.

Fir, The trick to not having so many spiders is to leave the over head door open long enough to trap a few birds, they eat the spiders and are much easier to catch and put back out.

Just kidding of course, even though it happens 2 or 3 times every summer.

I set off 3 bug bombs twice a year in the shop, once in the beginning of June and then again around the middle of August, this seems to keep the creepy crawly population down to a manageable level.

I am really liking the hammer rack, it is so easy to grab the hammer/mallet that I need use it and back into the rack it goes. Much easier than digging through a drawer or 2 or 3 to find the one I want.

If you notice I left room at the bottom of the wall, that is for another rack to store more hammers

I have a space between the top of my forge table and the angle iron that makes up the frame. It's a crude solution but it works. The hammers I use most are easily accessible and don't walk off like they would elsewhere.

I attached a photo that might give the general idea. Not the best quality but you can see the hanging space. It wouldn't work with a normal bench but on a forge table it does the job. If anyone would like a more complete picture I'll try to get one.

i have many hammers.
borrowed this idea to store a few.
1/2 plate, welded to 2x2 square stock, welded to a 150# 8'' blind flange. it was too light, drilled and tapped, bolted a 300# 12'' blind. 2'' pipe are the holders.

I've been considering keeping one or two on the pegboard on my hutch. Other than that mine stay in a drawer. But I also have a cart I use to take tools to whatever I'm working on. I have a few u-bolts on the side of it to hold hammers.

Carpenter hammers are on the pegboard with the woodworking tools. My ball peens and dead blows are int he bottom drawer of my box.

I dig that, but I'm getting to the point I'd need it floor to ceiling.

Kinda like a stripper pole, LOL.

I have mine on pegboard kind of in groups based on type... Though I would like to do something better because usually the hammer I need is the one that is buried in the back so I have to remove all the other hammer in front of it first...

That was one of the designs I rejected just for that reason.

I wanted to be able to easily grab the hammer I needed quickly and be able to return it to its spot.
