So you won/bought this gun? It is a 3/4" drive and only delivers 480 ft/lbs? Not to rain on your parade, but 1/2" drive guns deliver more power and weigh less. Congrats, but I guess I'm not seeing the deal (sorry) :dunno:

Milwaukee has a new 1/2" 18v mid torque impact wrench which puts out 450 ft lbs. A 3/4" pneumatic should put out at least double that number.

Will you have to buy a set or 3/4 inch drive impact sockets to go along with this bargain? $$$ Unless you already have a set and are dying to break out your "big guns" it doesn't sound like such a great deal to me either...

Previous posters are absolutely right about half inch models putting out more torque in a much friendlier format.

Where did you get 480 foot pounds from? Neither the auction or OP said that. Says 1100 foot pounds in the specs.

PCL APP 234
1100 lbft, 1490 Nm according to their website
List seems to be £735, actual retail prices around £310 inc vat. So that is a really good deal for a used one.

I made a mistake on the foot pounds. The website, when I clicked on the 3/4" drive, went to a 1/2" drive gun.....and I didn't notice that. Thanks for catching my error

An IR2235 is rated at 930 ft-lbs of max torque. This 3/4 drive is rated at 1100 ft-lbs of max torque, making it significantly stronger (170 ft-lbs).

1/2 drive impacts are often advertised by nut busting torque (marketing BS) where as 3/4 drive impacts are rated by the more practical and useful max or working torque number. The marketing by IR/Snap On/Chicago Pneumatic/Aircat/etc is paying off as people actually think their 1/2 drive impacts are just as powerful as a 3/4 drive.

The 3/4 drive will hit harder per impact too, and the extra weight of a 3/4 drive socket will make the torque output even higher.

Ultimately, that means the "nut-busting" torque of this 3/4 drive impact would probably be around 1500-1600 ft-lbs or maybe even 1700 to the IR2235's 1300.

Is it enough of a difference to justify the new price for a 3/4 drive impact? Depends on how much you need that extra power/which model 3/4 drive impact you look at. For $40 for the OP, that's a damn powerful impact for super cheap.

A good 3/4" impact is almost as powerful as the big 1" impacts that were used in truck tire shops 20 years ago.

I got the Milwaukee 3/4" Fuel and I was surprised at how powerful it is. Of course air 3/4" are going to be stronger yet. Didn't get it for $40 bucks though.

I like the Op's Ernst socket holders. I have the same ones to hold 3/4" sockets

@WhittHay tganks buddy, i looked at the 3/4 ernst and thought the weight of the socket would break the plastic? So i made these

They do a job i also had them powder coated and rare earth magnets on the bottom so they dont move

A big chunck of my for nowdays is bus, coach and truck. And looking for the workshops 3/4and inch guns isnt good time management. So i started looking about and found this, hey it might be shockingly bad but for £37 its worth ago.
They guy says its been barely used and just sat in his workshop. I cant find any reviews on it, but pcl arent a bad company with a history of buying in bad products

Awesome!

My Aircat 3/4" on half inch hose and 175psi has all but replaced a 1" gun doing semi truck brakes. At a quarter the weight.
