Hey all,

I have two of these in my collection of various wrenches, they're brand new with the tags on them, says they're made in Taiwan.

Anyone know if these are just re-badged Gearwrench?

They look decent, not great but not bad at all.

Could be rebranded. However the days of decent Duralast is over.

there 36th Taiwan made ratchets are very good. snap on copy. i just got them and there built like a tank and better then any Taiwan ratchet i have used or owned. they just lack the tooth count but other then that they are top notch. if they would make a higher tooth count ratchet of the same quality id buy it in a heartbeat. if i took the name off it and told you it was a snap on you wouldn't question it and yes i own snap on ratchets as well. new and old ones.

i haven't tried any of there newer 72th ratchets duralast tho but there not made the same. completely diff design.

iv also have had good luck with there Taiwan made sockets.

For my purposes, I think these Duralast ratcheting wrenches will be fine. I'm a weekend warrior at best, and I have good quality US made non-ratcheting combination wrenches for when things get iffy.

Lightning02 - If you're impressed with the Duralast SnapOn rip off's, you should take a look at the Harbor Freight Pittsburgh SnapOn rip off's...For an $18-$23 ratchet, it's amazing quality, and they're 72 tooth. Look at the Youtube reviews, they're VERY durable, far stronger than they have any right to be for that price. Basically, you pretty much have to go truck brand to get tougher.

Personally, I have ratchets from SnapOn, Williams, Stanley, Craftsman, SK, Kobalt, Husky, and Pittsburgh. These days I tend to reach for my Pittsburgh composite ratchets first; I'm pretty fond of them.

i have the HF ones as well. the duralast make them look like dollar store junk. in build quality and feel. i got the duralast for $20 ducks each shipped to my house. they only thing they lack is a higher tooth count. for a DIY its not a big deal but someone that uses them for a living will see the build quality differences. i can strip the teeth out of a HF without breaking a sweat. it ain't happening with the duralast. i own all the brands you do as well but no williams. and id put the duralast 2nd in line. snap on being 1st. i have never really beat on my sk stuff for some reason lol sooo i cant say how they will hold up. i mostly use my SK in 1/4dr, just feels the best. its probably bc the sk stuff was my fathers, he use to use a lot of sk stuff and some snap on but mostly sk.

as far as ratcheting wrenches go. im waiting for tekton to come out with there reversible ratcheting wrenches so i can compare them to GW. i have GW now but i want a full line of them without skip and i rather deal with tekton warranty them GW **** so im hoping there just as good before i make the jump. i do prefer and have the GW long double box ends tho. they have been handy bc they have a fixed and ratcheting end.

I've had my duralast ratcheting wrenches since they came out. I have still to warranty one 10mm, 12, 14, 17. The 4 sizes double box end wrenches (comes in a pair) are definitely from GW. As far as I know Duralast had them first.
I actually gave a pair of those Duralast wrenches to a friend in Japan and he was quite impressed with them.

BTW have you seen the NEW Duralast 3/8"dr in a 1/4 body ratchet. It's a bit longer 2cm+ than the Snap-On ratchet, but i'm sure that was so they wouldn't get sued. 72t too!

That's a bit of an overstatement...
The big ratchet + socket kits are China, and kinda crappy.

The normal ratchets and sockets are still Taiwan as far as I know though, and still very, very good.
Not sure about the wrenches

That is good information on the Duralast ratchets (even though I really don't need another ratchet), but nice to know!

As for SK's, all mine are over 50 years old and the damn things are freaking indestructible; toughest ratchets I have ever had. They're what I reach for when things go south.

The individual Duralast non-ratcheting combo wrenches are fairly decent for import wrenches. Same overall length as my SK long pattern wrenches, and I love my long SK's. But the wrench sets are standard length.

Just an FYI.
