Scored this sweet craftsman bronze table saw and stand for$40 while dropping off some donations [emoji16]. Model 103.20002 . Both saw and 3/4 motor are dated 1959....the stand has surface rust and looks like it spent time out doors while the saw is in pretty good shape! Just needs some basic maintenance and will be good for another 50years. It came with the miter gauge, fence and table extensions but looks to be missing the blade guard ... If someone has one or any cast extensions, please hit me up

I was on travel for work this week in California and Alaska, and despite dropping by one TOO north of Anchorage, found nothing.

Nothing, that is, until I dropped back into Boston's Logan Airport Saturday morning and fired up my phone app to reveal the richness of the sale scene in my home town. A beautiful warm Saturday brought out dozens of sales with the search term 'tools' in the ad. I picked out two along my route home. The first one was a bust (only yard tools) but the second one in Chelmsford was the definition of perfection: estate sale, family run, packed but disorganized garage, randomly stuffed tool boxes lining the driveway, and priced to sell!

I got a milk crate full of goodness for $40.

Three NIB Edwards push-pin door light switches
Yellow milk crate

Williams "Hornet" 81380 3/8" socket set--the top is a little rusty, but the interior is better. I found the ratchet in one of the driveway toolboxes before finding the box in the garage. After picking the Taiwan **** out, the set has missing three sockets, the extension and the "flex handle" breaker bar. The sad part is that the missing parts MIGHT be scattered among the 10 or so tool boxes, but I just didn't feel like going back through them a second time.

Two measuring calipers--the big one is a Brown & Sharp
Kling-Tite heavy duty stapler--this one has the deep-reach lower jaw, which is hard to find on the Internet.
Neva Clog J-30 hand stapler--very smooth action but requires special sized staples
Republic 10" x 5/16" drill bit
No name 12" x 3/8" auger self-feeding auger bit--looks minty
Lennox 4" hole saw

No name galvanized anchor shackle w/ 1-1/8" dia pin
Hide-a-key box
Selector multi-sharpener w/ original box and instructions

Stanley 25" tape measure
Snap-on SSDMR4A ratcheting bit driver--definitely used, but smooth ratcheting action
Snap-on SFS-141 deep well six pt socket--no date mark
Snap-on 3/8" combo wrench
DIN 895 metric DOE, 17mm x 13mm
Estwing masonry hammer

Four Armstrong 273B 1-5/16" socket wrenches--found the part number in a 1939 catalog on Twertsy's Tool Archives site here.

Three DBEs and a Bluepoint!
Willimas 7033C, 1" x 15/16"--pretty rusty
Indestro Select 0702 ratcheting DBE
Barcalo shortie
Blue Point CF-7 valve key replacer--vintage 1939-45 tool. I love the copy in the catalog here: "works swell on hard-to-handle motors" [emoji106]

No name bent nose pliers--don't have one in my arsenal, these will do
Blue Bird No 25 battery terminal pliers
Vice Grips, Dewitt, NE era, 7CR
Snap-on Vacuum grip 597 pin-puller pliers
YE Tool Co 851-7" mystery pliers--any ideas on this one? looks drum-brake-ish

I wasn't looking to acquire a set of adjustables--just grabbed good brands. I ended up with a nearly even spread

Crescent Crestoloy 12"
Fuller 10"--yes, made in Japan, but a good brand
Diamond Tool and Horseshoe Company 8"
Craftsman 944602 6"
Crescent Crestoloy 4"
J.H. Danielson Betr-Grip 4"
Weil 10" Adjustamatic pipe wrench--made in Japan

Simer Pump "Geyser Jr. submersible pump
Litle Wonder Electric Whisk Broom and Sanitator--it works, but may need a new bearing. It's cool that the garage drawers were full of mouse nests, but that the bag on this was unmolested

@bluebomber great haul for $40. If you (or anyone else) ever needs to make a quick buck on their DeWitt NE made vice grips being them back to nebraska.

I live about 40 mins from dewitt where they actually made them and there is some "nestaga value"

At auctions here the dewitt made ones easily sell for 10-15 clean and even soild rust sells 7 bucks a pair. The big welding clamp ones often go over 20.

Im curious is thats a local thing or a national thing.

Good haul BB. I thought about going out to that one, but decided to be good and limit myself.

Speaking of which .....
Went to the local flea this morning. I was being good and showing a lot of restraint. Lots to look at, but I didn't touch. (OK, there might have been a bit of touching involved) Lots of nervous sweating, but no buying. Now this story is just starting to sound creepy. Moving on.

I was almost done, when I stopped at Greg's table to chat. He and I run into each other at estate sales from time to time. Greg mostly sells handwoven oriental rugs, but he usually has other ornaments as well. Last summer I educated him on a Waterloo "All American" stack he had just put out, and he ended up selling it for more than he was originally planning on asking. Occasionally he has a vise for me to look at.

Today, I should have just kept walking on.
There on the back of the table was my doom.

100_2502.jpg

As we were flapping our jaws, he throws out a price.
Fair, but I shouldn't.
We gab a bit longer.
"are you sure ?"
Tempting, but I can't.
More talk.
"This needs to go home with you, I'll let you have it for ........" :shocking:
 [slump]

Next thing I know, I'm lumping 65lbs of steel all the way across the flea market to get to my truck in the far parking lot.

My back is fine, but my hips are killing me.

$30
Dake UT10-A 10ton H-frame screw press

100_2503.jpg 100_2504.jpg

Missing a threaded ball on the handle, and plates, but otherwise in great shape.

The frame is 21"w x 20"h, + the height of the screw handle.
A perfect size, and can be stored instead of taking up floor space.
I may just clean it up a bit and keep it as it is. Ugly, but not derelict.

It was a rather “swabbie" day for this grunt.

The US Navy radio – REH CDL-46271 made by Belmont Radio Corp in Chicago – is an “entertainment” or “morale” class radio. Volume, tuner, and band knobs with pre-set channel buttons. The antenna is a 4-footer. 1945.

US Navy deck pants pants/bib overalls. I have a few of these in light OD. They’re great for riding motorcycles or a jeep with the top down.

The auto wrenches are a Moore 12-inch and a Vlchek 5-inch.

Three quick stops today, one unplanned..

A 1/2" tappet wrench from stop 1 for a buck, a 6-1/2 Benjamin & Medwin CI fry pan for two, and from stop there for $5 - a 7 in carbide blade, a ring sizer, some 24 ga wire, and a copper Scented wax heater for SWMBO, as she and my daughter were wanting to "steal my pewter howling wolf one...

No GS or auctions for me in a while, its soccer season so my Saturdays are filled up. Todays find is from the dumpster, I went to the recycling to drop off our stuff and this was sitting there when I opened up the dumpster. Its in good shape and the best part is the nice USA Dewitt 7" Visegrip, Looks like it was barley used. Also had a stanley utility knife but the rest of the stuff in it was scrap iron.

OK lots going today, on so no chance to get any "real" work done, but I did squeeze in cleaning that 6-1/2" CI fry pan. More than cleaned it...

It had disgusting crud inside and some rust, so I broke out the 3-1/2" cup wire wheel and just did the whole thing. then I hit the fairly rough as cast bottom with a Flap whee, Not the best choice but this was an experiment since I also found this is an Asian import, not an old school US pan, so decided I had little to lose...

A better choice for the smoothing may be a sanding disc with a flex backer.

I gave it a final wet sanding with 120 grit and its better but still not perfect.

Lastly I washed it, Washed again with SOS, washed again... and then dried with paper towel, then with heat on the stove and started melting some Crsico into the bottom and coating the inside.

while I was doing that I got the cove up to 450 and with some dancing with wadded up paper towel and a hot pad, coated the entire pan with the melted Crisco. Into the oven ot went for 15 min. Then cooled in the oven.

This is the result: it seems decent enough, but still needs "food tested" certainly the coating is not sticky at all, just a good glaze!

Good press, Jake. I have a taller Dake 18" wide x 28" tall) that I bought on one of my "I'm retired but the Boy needs driving time" kicks. I've used it once.

Well, that's about what they're bringing on Ebay, if you factor in shipping. Good to know, though, that the home town still remembers its history.

Spent a wooping $10 at the local flea market today. Found a few nice finds.
Williams STW-3rcf torque wrench.
Penens 1/2in ratchet
Firestone ratchet
Utica 6.5in needle nose pliers
Wiss M2 snips ( now I have a complete set)
1/4in SK Wayne socket set.

Anyone if the Williams torque wrench is a dependable tool? Very clean with smooth action.

It must have been the Ringling Bros. liquidation auction?

Lol. It was stacked in with a bunch of Santa Fe railway stuff I bought. Wish I knew what it was for. I was originally thinking for a carnival game but those I have seen and are usually beat beyond belief.

Weighs close to 30-35lbs.

Craigslist find. Craftsman Block grinder 3/4hp. Had everything except the left wheel guard. Guy said it might be at his house in south Carolina. Told me he will call me at the end of July if he finds it also said he has more wheels. Fingers crossed he finds them and calls me. I think I got a deal and paid whole asking price of $45. I need to repaint the base but the rest should clean up nicely. Pics from CL ad.

Better pics? That looks like it might be a Central Tool (NOT the HF CT...) made TW, and if so, its a decent TW.

Outlawmws, Here's a few closeup's of the Williams torque wrench, Hard to read the labels in the Pic's so here's what it says.

Williams USA, STW-3RCF, Series C

Oh, and one of the cooler things was found in the head of the US Mann. axe.

Probably gonna leave it there. Very likely silver though!

I picked up a good handful of wrenches from the ReStore yesterday. Mostly Vlcheck for .50 each. Some assorted others. I tossed some in the evaporust bath before I got pics. Maybe later

Silver corrodes black, so maybe cad plated?

Wait, is that a coin?

Cool Stuff!

Yep it's a coin! I didn't know if the same held true for coin silver? You are probably correct as I know next to nothing about coins. Other than they spend and before a certain date had silver lol. A big part of me wants to dig it out to see where it's from and tell me where this axe has been. Don't know if any foreign coins had reeded edges.

I thought I got a good deal on a 1/3 hp in nice shape for $50 but you killed it! You **** for that price on a nice commercial unit!

Swingpress:

Very impressed with the items you got.

I think the wheel with the twisted handle may be a traveler used by a wheelwright.

Also like the RR items as well

Was on a short leash on Saturday, so only got to one sale and didn't buy anything.

Over to daughters and worked around her house, getting home couple hours before dark.

Was looking through CL and saw a vise, but no details in posting.

Told my wife that I think I'd regret it, if didn't make the 1hr and 15 min trip to go get it.

Had a chance on Monday morning to finally go through it, and below pics are after I removed the non-original red and some original that was gray/green in color.

I still don't have it completely done, as need to get a 1-3/8" socket in order to remove the bolt from base of swivel, to clean the interior of it.

A very nice Charles Parker No. 974 with Patent 1930 on side and original wrench and collar as well.

Mike

Flea market today, still not a lot of vendors. I did walk away with this handful. Sparta 1/4" set, New Britain stubby, Snap On screwdriver, 2 indestro? DBE, 2 Brazil DBE, SK combo and DOE, Russell Jennings brace bit, perfect handle driver, Allen brand Allen key set in pouch.

Socket set only had the ratchet and spinner, but I looked through the vendors boxes of goodies and found all the sockets and extensions.

Not often I find stuff here, but I did find a couple good deals this weekend.

$5 for the hammers, staple gun, and mini-vice, and $20 for the downdraft sanding table.

Beauty. I love the raw finish - what did you end up snagging it for? Looks like it could fetch a pretty decent amount

2 sales today and 1 yesterday and I came home with this lot of tools:

Between the 3 sales I have $21 invested. We had to dig awhile to find the one drill bit that wasn't in the box.I believe the rest have never been out of the box.We were unsuccessful at finding the blue plastic cap.

I love the Craftsman Crown auger set in the box! I have the same set with metal holder but no box like yours.
