I am looking to buy a set of 1" drive impact sockets so I would like to hear some opinions of what brand to get. I am looking at the 37 piece SK set but my only problem with them is it will be a pain to get them warrantied. I wouldn't mind spending the money on Snap on but I see they don't go below 1-3/8", I would like to go as small as 15/16. THanks for the help.

In the mining industry we never saw much SO. Wright or Proto were the preferred suppliers.

1" are monster sockets, Grey Pneumatic or Sunex or whatever, hard to imagine any ever breaking.

tRUST ME, Proto impacts are the best.

They're a little Costly but they're the best. Excellent quality ,you'll have them forever.

Toolfreak, I'm curious to know...what are you going to use them on?!

I work on heavy equipment, I am trying to find a mechanics truck since the pipeline companies require you to have your own truck.

If you are worried about getting them warrantied you better go with Snap on. Why do you think you will need to get them warrantied ? All the 1" drive sockets I have are so heavy and thick, you will never break them.
If you have time you can get really good deals on Ebay. One socket at a time.

Like I said in my original post, they don't go below 1-3/8", I need down to 15/16" for cutting edges and track pad bolts. I have seen 1" drive impact sockets broken where I use to work so I want a good quality socket set.

I will check into them today, I don't mind spending the money since this will be the only set I will buy.

How big do you need to go?

Grey Pneumatic
#9021 3/4"-2"
#9016 2 1/16"-3"
#9011 3 1/8"-4 1/2"

Add a D to the end of the part # & you'll have deep sets.

Where is a good place to buy proto? I have searched Grainger and MSC since they are the only ones I have found online ot buy and they don't have much for 1" drive listed.

I would suggest going to a Fastenal or other local Industrial supply house for both your Proto and Wright needs.

I will say this, IMO Wright's are a better quality 1" drive impact socket then the newer Proto. We ran mostly Wright up to 3-1/2" IIRC.

Check out Wright 1" Drive Impact Sockets

bettymills.com has good prices on Wright tools. That's where I have been picking up Wright stuff for work. Site is a little odd but if you search the Wright part number it should come up.

If you are not wanting to spend the money on Snap-on then I would suggest looking at the Genius brand. I have sold some of their tools for several years now and have been impressed with their quality. Send me a PM and I can get you some prices if you tell me what you want.
