Here is a picture of my truck up on the "lift." This fab work underneath seems to take 3x longer when you have to keep getting up and down. I can not wait for the day that I have a lift in this shop.

Pulled it all out Monday and finish welded it. By Tuesday it was all painted thanks to my semi retired father who has been helping me.

Damn!! Fine work! That should protect you from the driveshaft just fine.

Thanks. I had a vision in my head of something that looked much better/cleaner, but money is running out for this project and not buying another $100 worth of steel was a sacrifice I made and used what I had available in the shop. Need to save the extra funding for the important parts that are coming up.

Been a long time since my last update but I have been stretched thin working 50hrs a week, trying to get our old house sold, fixing a few minor breakdowns on my 299k mile daily driver, rehabbing my gooseneck trailer and spending every bit of extra time in the shop getting this truck done. It's come a long way. I wish I had more time to post progress pics of some of the steps but that will have to wait. My first points event is this weekend and I have 5 days to tidy up alot of loose ends and make sure this thing is ready to run. If the last parts are delivered this week I will make it... If not I will have to sit it out and probably drink all of the beer while I sulk in the shop for not making it.

I know when this thing is done I need go have an entire week of doing nothing but cleaning and organizing the shop. So much accumulated **** that it hard to find parts and tools. fa7aa6ccd509b0b62cd325fc6df1fb3b.jpgcfada05e15636290f7e926b02514ee8c.jpg0237d94cd8cc89fbcb4d1f645ecc7a42.jpg70b7356316e0830fec825ef807ed30a1.jpg791e42cc5a31ac547cffc9acea18c590.jpg

Nice work, what is the trans and t-case?
I am running a factory style NV 4500 5speed with just a couple minor upgrades for strength and an OEM NP271 transfer case that came out of a 2004 dodge ram.

Wow, what a week. I made the final push in finishing up the little details ahead of the first points event yesterday. Working all day then coming home and staying in the shop until 11pm or later I'm pretty sure my wife forgot who I was. Friday night my father and I were determined to finish with just 20 hours or so til we needed to load up and hit the road. We worked til almost 4am then were back in the shop just before 8. Double and triple checking everything we got it fired up at about 11am and I was able to finally make a test launch to check the clutch and make sure the weights were set properly for locking up at around 5k rpm.

Unfortunately at about 12:30 we got word the event was cancelled due to rain and more coming so we just sat down and were able to take a breather. We then began cleaning up and got the truck put back in the shop and spent the rest of the day doing absolutely nothing, and it felt great. I do have 2 minor repairs to make already but being as how we Rebuilt this truck from the ground up, I expected certain things to not be perfect and need tweaking. I have at least 2 weeks until there is another event close by so I don't have to kill myself to get them done.

I am also glad to have had the opportunity to work with my father so much on this project. I will be 32 in a few weeks and I have never had such an involved father-in-law project. He still teaches me lots of little things and techniques to do things while I also teach him lots of things about the new technology and such. I think he was smiling way more than me after seeing the first test launch. I think it may have surprised him how violent this thing really is when you let 6 tires rip at 5k rpm and it comes up on boost. 93473386a2a1b5d35492861197e1cbe7.jpg

Checked my tach recall after the little test launch I made last weekend. Not bad for a motor that was governed at 2700 from the factory.

Well it's official. Everything is done. Just waiting for an event without rain! Even clay barred, polished, and waxed it.

Not bad for 15yr old paint that was not properly protected for the first 9 years.

Now I can start cleaning and organizing this shop finally. 6191b08663cc1dc44f4167f0bef8dbd4.jpg39dde75712d8f200d955bed056c88a67.jpgaf82257cbd176eb1f259322cbf704be0.jpg6fa36a0e3deb42e852d3e63dd190ab46.jpg11ac105047af1d595c52535d4bff3702.jpg

The maiden voyage was a success. I made a clean pass down the track with no major issues and it drove back onto the trailer at the end of the night. I made a rookie error and rode the clutch a little too long at the start, which killed my distance on the other end, I was 15' behind the winner, and just 5' back from what it took to end up in the money. Even without that, I am happy as can be that all the time, money, sweat, and long nights paid off and it all worked together get down the track.

Back on the trailer without losing money in still a win!
Absolutely, making a full pass without any hiccups and I didn't finish dead last either. My driving error was the only down side. I'm incredibly happy with it.

Got a photo from one of the photographers at the event. Good shot. And it shows just how cold my ice tank was. It was frosted over. 94ab734118678417d6dfa9cd9fd25f14.jpg
