You need some flags flying on the front wall.:dunno: It sure makes a nice place for all the farm and garden stuff you accumulated.

Don: your garden area for you bride just keeps getting better every day. i'm really curious if the chicken wire will stop the bigger critters once the plants have edible veggies on them. i'm not sure it would stop the deer and elk we've got roaming around up here outside the city, but i do like that the birds can't get at them.

best of luck with all that is involved with growing and harvesting your own food which i think everybody should learn to do even if they only have a city yard or a few pots to grow some herbs and tomatoes. the food tastes so much better.

i'm looking forward to the cabinet restoration when you have time and of course the paint job on the old vette.

have a great day!!

We haven't had deer in the yard yet Just mountain lions

We will be harvesting $20.00 tomatoes and $10.00 ears of corn soon (to pay for the garden) they will go well with our $10.00 eggs I get from the chicken coop

have a great day!!

Thanks Drives

The porto power cabinet has been sand blasted and primed. The porto power pieces have been sand blasted, primed and painted red. Soon I will have pictures of the set done and mounted on the wall
The Corvette will be back in the garage on Tuesday RUNNING

Thanks for the visit

I knew that California had a high cost of living for the high rollers. But WOW!!

$20 tomatoes and $10 ears of corn! They must be good.:lol_hitti

I try never to calculate the cost of my production.

Andy

That's just the value I place on them to offset the price of the new garden lol
I wouldn't even think to price out my restorations even without my labor added in.

Don, with that Blackhawk box, will you reproduce the decals or no? I'd have a hard time blasting that stuff away.

Hi Brent
I looked for several days for the 2 decals and was unsuccessful, so I took close up pictures of them and will have my pinstriper try to dup. them. He's a great artist so we can hope.

Don: I NEVER try to figure out the costs of the food we grow because i'm certain on most of the items we could probably buy it cheaper. since you don't like figs i bet you don't have a clue what they cost at the store for organic ones do you? i think they run about $1 or so each and maybe more cause we haven't bought any in a few years. also not all the stores carry them so gas and time involved. also having food you can pick and eat out of your own yard usually tastes a whole lot better than the stuff you buy that is picked before it's ripe and usually sprayed with only GOD knows what.

i bet if you had a juicy sweet fig instead of a dry one which is probably why you didn't and don't like them you might change your mind. anyway i'm not here to convince you to like figs, but i saw hundreds pass under my nose before grabbing one to eat and OMG it was way to good to pass up again.

so garden is done as far as you are concerned and Ann has the reigns now and i bet smiling from ear to ear.

Vette is running, sandblaster and paint booth and labels are all in the works and i bet Don is smiling too cause maybe it's 70 degrees and not raining.

cheers and hope you are having a great weekend

I still say "NO" to your figs but the avocado is another story. We have over 100 avocado trees and 3 different types that ripen at different times of the year and I'll eat those every day

Andy
I've heard that it never rains in So. Cal. but it's not so I've had to push water out of the party garage 3 times this year due to heavy rain.
But it is 80 with a slight breeze and "thats the way I like it uhah uhah"

I'll be hitting it hard this week. Because I made the garden area look so good now I have to improve the rest of the area to make it all blend in.

This weekend was a kick back week end at the river (80 degrees)

Don: i got it you don't like or want to try a fresh juicy tasty really good FIG.

that place you have on the RIVER looks like a great place to retire or spend a few days if you are retired and have a PARTY GARAGE. it's SWEETER than my figs.

are you concerned at all with the level of the water in the river cause isn't there some takers upstream that might cause it to dry up?

I just started another thread that i know very little about, but would like to learn so i'll put my best foot forward to find out as much as i can about vintage metal cans, containers and stuff and the link is in my sig line if you might want to post up a few of yours if you have a minute.

cheers and hope the veggies in your bride's garden are as good as your garden looks. again WELL DONE!!

Thanks Drives.
I've had a place out on the Colorado river since 1981 and this place is my 3rd place within the same park

No threat to us at all. The water stays the same year round.
They do drop the level once each year in January for 1 week so we can service our docks

Tomorrow I'm taking some woodshop tools and machines out to the river to set up a shop out there so I can still play while out there.

I'll be happy to check it out

A woodshop at the river ?!!? I might have to visit both of your places.

Yes Toolfool
I collected too many tools while gathering old tools for the old craftsman wood shop so the duplicate stuff was plugging up the shop. I gave the last of my dirt toys to the kids last weekend while out to the river so while sweeping up the garage it hit me that I could fill the empty space with tools.

The trailer is filled with a table saw, a drill press, a sander, a work table, a band saw, a skill saw and a couple of routers. I'm also taking an extra dust collector and a chop saw, along with a skill saw and slug of hand tools.
Should be enough for a good start.

So come and help me set it up.

The toys are gone

The empty garage is deep enough to house the boat in the winter and that's all that goes in it now so it's a good place to start another wood shop

Pretty cool angle attachment for a brace. I don't guess I've seen one of those. I do have a pipe drilling attachment with automatic feed. I'll try to post that unless you have one.

Thanks Coop
That box of treasure is only 1 of 5 that I need to go through
I've never seen a wood handled open end wrench before. There is a slug of neat stuff in that box.

Andy

I've never seen an angle attachment either and post up pipe drillers I'd like to see them

Very nice addition Don. That's my kind of hot rod. I'm not a big fan of fenders but that is a classic look and the tire and wheel combo give it the right stance. Love that it has a flathead rather than the usual small block chevy.

Don: great looking car and addition to your Party Garage. is there anything you and your friends can't fix? did you find the electrical issue or just bypass it so it works now?

i like the idea that you are able to have a small woodshop (still bigger than mine) at the River House too.

hope you are getting some good weather for the new plants and in the spirit of fresh food we picked up a few ourselves this weekend. seriously you would have thought our fruitstand was giving away $100 bills cause there was so many people there they had to hire a policeman to control traffic in and out of their parking lot.

cheers

I like the SOLARAY, good name for it. Is that a new stop light by the door? Is that where its going to stay, or the first step in repairs? Hope IT doesn't have an electrical problem too?
Maybe the seat belts have moved or disconnected something?

I am at the other side. I like the fenders much better.
This car is the first hot rod that I have that is drivable, I have a model "A" pick up that sits untouched.

Super cool hot rod! That is my color:thumbup::thumbup:
But I need to caution you, at least some of the electrical gear under the seat is not original equipment...

Hi Andy

That color looks pretty good on this car but blue is my favorite. I don't know why you thing that this car is not stock. Is it the seatbelts??

A nice looking addition.

Thanks Simon

Yes I have some really good and talented friends. We did get the car started
today a new battery and filing the points and rebuilding the carb was all it took.

i like the idea that you are able to have a small woodshop (still bigger than mine) at the River House too.

I'm looking forward to sorting it out and setting it up. My first task is to rebuild my dock.

hope you are getting some good weather for the new plants and in the spirit of fresh food we picked up a few ourselves this weekend. seriously you would have thought our fruitstand was giving away $100 bills cause there was so many people there they had to hire a policeman to control traffic in and out of their parking lot.

Garden is growing just fine. Thanks for stopping by

Thank you, sir.

I do mean it. I'd love for you to stop by and play!!!

Hi Herb
Good eye on the stop light. It has been fixed. Yes it had an electrical problem when I got it. I had parts left over from the stop light I hung in the center of the garage so It was a quick fix (new controller chip) It will sit out by the garden I think.

What do you mean, first hot rod that is driveable?

Avatar car?

In any event, I'm pretty sure your Model A has been repainted. And there's some other things that don't look like stock, but, hey, it's transportation. At least you can drive it.

Here is a shot of my dock as it is tonight

Here is a couple more shots of the 29 model "A"

the motor

I think you walk on water, so ya just get your feet wet.
Might have to replace the wood with the new decking material of a plastic compost with wood particles thrown in. The water sure looks crystal clear.:dunno:

Wow, this place continues to impress for sure. This thread has served as a serious inspiration to me personally. Though unlikely to attain this level ever, it is awesome to see what can be accomplished. Quite amazing. I love the variety of items, reminds me of myself, I get into something, "conquer" it, and move on to the next collection or project. The scale and quality to which to accomplish this is beyond measure. Thank you for continuing to share your passion.

Don: as we age isn't it hard to have to do a project over that you thought would last 20+ years. unfortunately as we age and the project lasted 30 years it still needs to get pulled apart and re built. or even if the elements caused it to fail sooner. the good thing is we are still above dirt and able to do it or hire it out so best of luck with the dock.

since the cross beams are not rotted i'd almost consider replacing all the beams running the direction of the dock to making them all cross beams. i'd like to see bracket hangers on them, but since i doubt they get much weight on them probably not a big deal and screws or nails should hold fine.

didn't you say the river is low during the winter and maybe this project should have happened when there wasn't any water below it? or did i have that wrong. i have several projects that have been on some sort of TO DO LIST for a while so not criticizing and just asking. of course as hot as it is having your feet in the water while nailing in a few dock boards might not be a bad idea.

keep up the great work as always and glad to hear you and your guys got the new HOT ROD RUNNING.

Having spent a good portion of my life building decks and docks, I'd say that end is the most common rot area no matter how it's built.
