Hey guys, I picked up this 3hp air compressor pump from HF, and am a bit stuck on fittings to get it plumbed. The manual states 3/4-16 UNF, and as you can see below the parts look like a flare fitting. The cad plated nut has 3/4 ID and the black male has 9/16 ID.

3/4 flare is not readily available, I dont have tubing and tools to set up a 3/4 copper flare. If thats even what it is. I guess I could go to a specialty shop and have them make something up.. But I'm stuck at home today, so it's all internet research. I'd like to get this to 1/2 NPT for ease of plumbing the rest of the system.

Any experience with this pump, any ideas on a course of action?
thanks!

That type of fitting is used in hydraulics. It is a straight thread. Any straight thread is used with a gasket at the base as it does not seal as it tightenes, like NPT pipe thread. There is a very simple fix. They sell adapters from UNF to regular NPT and they are available in 3/4-16. Why HF is selling a. air compressor with hydraulic fittings is beyond me. Are you sure it is not a misprint? Their instruction manuals are full of mistakes. Check and make sure it is not regular pipe thread.

Ragtop, YES. thats just what hit me as I posted the pic. duh. that elbow is now gone and I'm left with 3/4 pipe -much simpler.

6pt, yeah the fitting measures out to 3/4-16, no taper. Dumb ****. But as of now that fitting is GONE! We're at 3/4 NPT, aiming straight down out of the pump.

So moving on, what would be the preferred tubing to connect the pump to the tank? Soft copper & compression fittings? I can easily get rubber lead in air hoses, but rubber for this? I could add a big coil of line here for cooling perhaps?
