Is this a plomb, proto, or P&C. No name on it.

A google search on 1429 Body Hammer turns up several ads for Proto or Plomb brands, but the pictures in those ads show the hammers have a brand name stamped on them in addition to the number. I wonder if this one slipped through the name stamping process during manufacturing?

That could happen. I used to haul loads of visegrips from DeWitt Ne. factory and there was a cull bin ahead of packaging. Stamping was one of a host of imperfections that landed them in the bin.

The P&C Catalog #5300 shows that hammer, and the handle has the P&C logo with the 1429. It looks like the head is also stamped 1429. The only "body" hammer in that catalog that shows a P&C logo on the head is the Magnetic Trim Hammer #1419, which is an upholstery tack hammer.

While the hammer head is interesting, I really like the ruler with it's sayings!
