Duped by Indian company

I had ordered 2 club hammers from an Indian company called "Sun Rock" based in Jalandhar, Punjab, India, through the online portal "Industrybuying.com" which is based near Delhi, India. When receiving the package, I found it contained only 1 hammer although the packing list states quantity 2. The pictures are attached. They are not responding to my complaint. Beware of ordering anything from these companies!

Could there be more than one package? Don't ask me why - it happened to me twice, not from India though.

I just have to ask, seriously-
Where was it made? India?
And what do you think of it quality wise for the price?

No, it was just a single package with the packing slip saying 2 qty. It was 2 weeks ago and I am still waiting for response to my repeated complaints.

Yes, made in India. The item is O.K. and the price is also right. But for 2 (not 1) pieces.

Correction: Handle is a bit loose. Not meant for heavy duty work.

A wise man many centuries ago said (in Latin) "Caveat Emptor". Translated, this means "Let the buyer beware". Not trying to put you down, as I have been duped as well as probably everyone during their life who reads this post in some way, shape or form. My "solution" to matters like this are to chalk it up to " life tuition". You just made another payment on your student loan. It *****, and I feel for you, now shake it off and move on.

I'm curious, is it typical for commerce to be done in English over there? I know there are multiple languages spoken.

Wait, what is so special about this hammer that you have to order them from India?
I seriously thought it would be so much easier just go to Walmart or something.

The OP lives in India making it much more convenient than going to Walmart.

Duh!
I looked at the receipt and didn't see it, also, I didn't notice his posted location either.

Since the OP is local- Go there bang his wife and then threaten to bang him on the head with the hammer you have until he gives you the other one you paid for.

Wait, so you when it arrived as only half the order you still paid the full amount?

I had no way of knowing it was only half the order because the packing slip stuck outside the package read Quantity: 2. It did seem lighter than expected, but when I opened it (after having made the payment, the delivery guy being gone) it was only 1 item inside.

Well, I have cancelled all my pending orders with the company Industrybuying.com (they were worth more than Rs. 30,000). I won't be dealing with them in future. Plus I have posted this experience here, so it may cause further business loss to them.

Anyone who appends the word "only" to a written dollar amount is suspect anyway.

Good for cancelling your orders.

Really vicedog! Industrybuying.com??? That website always felt shady to me. There are so many others, even Amazon.in for stuff like hammers.

Their website shows much larger tools & hardware inventory than Amazon, but it is all supplied by fake resellers with no warranty and service. They are just touts and middlemen.

Not sure how many Indian members we have on the board but I can guarantee members in the USA won't be purposely buying Indian tools any time soon. Made in India to most Americans is a notch under made in China.

Good luck with a resolution though.

Finally got a response from Industrybuying saying they want to refund the cost of the missing hammer. This happened after 3 weeks, but less than 24 hours after posting this thread, which means membership of Garage Journal forum does carry some clout!

Thanks for all your support guys!

I got two counterfeit fragrances from companies in Russia. Fake bottles and scent inside. They weren't cheap either, just not as expensive as buying them here or in Europe. Bastards having to rob people.

What were they? Eau de WD-40 and Channelock #5?

Sorry - I just can't stop myself at times. To quote Larry the Cable Guy, "Forgive me Lord, and all the pygmies in New Guinea..."

Any country / company can produce junk or quality tools. COO doesn't always factor into that. I have friends both from and in India, I'll ask them their opinion on which tools made there are of what quality.

Sorry to hear that but I personally wouldn't have ever ordered anything from India to start with. My own personal experience with made in India tools is they are a step down from Chinese made tools

But you have a big U.S. flag in your avatar, so it is not hard to guess you live in the U.S.! You have disclosed your location in your avatar. LoL.:bounce:
(BTW, 'avatar' is an Indian word meaning 'incarnation'.)

So, if you happen to change your avatar, you can consider yourself "re-incarnated???"

Yes, only 'avatar' is used in the religious (Hinduism) sense when God takes the form of a physical being. Re-incarnation has another Sanskrit word for it.
