Linear panel, osb, vs any other ideas?

I have a 50x50x14. Looking into what to do on the walls and roof. Trying to do the best price effect thing. Lowes has osb for $11.68 a sheet. Menards is $3400 for panel linear...

Is there anything else out there that doesn't require studding out the walls. Was thinking plastic of some sort? Maybe bathroom plastic stuff?

Bathroom plastic i know of is called FRP or fiberglass reinforced panel. Its pretty exoensive and generally mounts over plywood or drywall as it's pretty wimpy stuff without support.

Guy I know did his ceiling on the cheap using aluminum soffit panels. scoured craigslist for a few months buying up leftovers. it is light and easy to put up on the ceiling and was dirt cheap. that is one other option.

walls are another story. that price for OSB seems high but I haven't bought any in a while. last time I got 1/2" plywood it was $9.99 a sheet so I would check into that...watch for sales.

Tons of suggestions throughout the GJ on this subject.

Been and still in your shoes months ago.

Decided on T1-111 for the first 8' then plan to use sheet rock on the last 4', then on one corner I used peg board for the first 8' and will use sheet rock for the last 4' in my shop area.

Then I will do (maybe, haven't started on that area yet) sheet rock in TV/Bar/kitchen area.

And in main garage area thinking about a combination of T1-111 / sheet rock / and maybe some 1/4" ply covered with FRP. This area is where I plan to hose off things often (or not?)

My ceilings are a total unknown, so I will wait for you to work it out and then decided. (ha).

It us fun to say the least.
What ever you do, take pictures and let us know. I'm still working it out myself

You don't really need studs, but you should put in girts to back up anything you use for wall panels.

At 8 ft on center, I'd be hesitant to use plywood because of the warping unless you have at least another support at 4 ft centers. You might try the lengths of vinyl used for porch ceilings. They look like tongue and groove flat boards with chamfered edges. Comes in white for good reflective surface and they are interlocking and easily cleaned....even with a hose if you want.

Put in some 2"x4" girts on 2' centers will be easier to insulate as well. OSB spanning 8' with no support behind it will be way to flimsy. Look up "bookshelf girts".

Do you have any lumber mills around ? ... I did a project using boards in an old barn ... it was all popular boards. The house was in PA .. so lots of trees around.

I used one board in the middle (as a backer) to support the centers

Just for clarification, the walls and roof, you mean interior walls and ceiling ?
