So I bought this Clausing drill press to fill a void until I could get a mill, now I have a mill on the line and don't need the drill press (or hopefully won't very soon) and do need the space it is in.

What do you think it is worth both with and without the VFD

They may list for $1000 on eBay but you will seldom see one sell for anywhere close to that. Assuming you are selling drill and table maybe $500-$600 with vfd $600-$650. Vfd s are realitively cheap for 1hp and under.

Personally I wouldn't pay more than $500. It lacks the utility of a larger press, and has the disadvantages of its awkward size and configuration.

The head is where the money is, and the clausing is a good one. I'd be putting that head on another base if it was me.

As to the "awkward size", the production table can serve many general shop workbench functions. It wouldn't be a minus for me. However, it appears most of the lip on the left side of the table is broken; that is a definite minus.

So, bottom line, I'd agree it won't bring the premium a standard floor model Clausing will.

It may bring more by parting it out.

Yup it would but IMO that would be a crime, you should never part out a working machine just for a few extra $$$.

Thanks guys that gives me a starting point.

I went and checked out the mill today and it will fit the bill, now all we have to do is come to terms on the price.

The lowest price for a floor-standing Clausing drill press on eBay at the moment is $900. Ones similar to the op's range from $1,200 to $1,500.

Completed listings are pretty sparse. Three head production ones were around $1,200. A 20" went for $2,450.

I'm going to give it a clean up and take some good pics and post it for $900 BO tomorrow.

Thanks for all the help.

If you were closer I would love to have that. Looks in good shape.
Seems to me it will not be a quick sell, but for the right person $800 to $1200 seems a fair range

You guys do realize this is a clausing 15 and not the 20. I just missed a triple head on a production table for $300 a couple weeks back. The 15s are usually parted out because they bring more money that way.
