Questions about a couple tool boxes I found

Good Evening All,

Another fun Saturday spent poking through other people's things! I found two old-ish (I think) tool boxes that I thought were pretty cool. I don't know much about them and I don't see much online about them. Any information or background is appreciated. It seems I may have a new "addiction"!!!

One is a Park P22N two-drawer chest and the other is a Radnor box with tray. I paid $7 for both and was wondering if I got snookered or if my "investment" was worth it!!

You can hardly go wrong with any US-made tool box (or tool). I'm not familiar with either of these tool boxes, but at $7, you did great! Use them, enjoy them, and hopefully someone else here will tell you more about them.

Small US made boxes in great shape like yours, are always very handy to have around the shop. For 7 bucks, I would have taken them even though I truly do not need another tool box.

Radnor is a brand owned by RotoMetals. They deal mostly in ship building now but they still own the brand.

Park is tied to the bicycle business and I suspect that your tool box is from their early 70s retail line.

You can research both of these companies. There is plenty of info still available.

My first tool box was a Park just like the one you bought. I used it for about 40 years before giving it to my daughter who does a lot of the basic repairs around her house and it's still going strong.

Parks were built solid, I've restored a few and they sold nicely. Nothing crazy, but worth the time restoring. Radnor I've never heard of, but looks to be the same era as the Park and in nice shape. $7ea is pretty good!

You're thinking of Park Tool in Minnesota. I can find references to Park Manufacturing Company as a stamping facility (EPA website) but maybe they closed down in 2014?

Boxes look to be in good condition, clean them up & coat of wax and put them to use. $7 for both sounds like a great deal

Yep. That's precisely who I'm thinking of. I thought for sure they turned out boxes at one point. Park Manufacturing makes more sense though.

I don't think Park Tool did any real tool boxes... they have some modern plastic ones but that's about it, their focus was on all the bicycle mechanics tools. Hard to find info on Park Mfg Co.
