Screwed Wilton C1 too tight without jaws. Stuck.

So I found an old C1 (couldn't read the date on the key), took it all apart, and got it powder coated. In the process of putting it back together, I screwed it too tight without the jaws on and now it's stuck. Attempting to screw it apart bent the collar that holds the long screw/handle in. Any ideas? I'm frustrated as hell and pretty much hate myself right now and want to throw this thing in the trash lol. I've beat on it plenty and the powdercaoting has suffered.

Try knocking out the end plug, remove the nut and then pushing from the end of the dynamic jaw / tube.

Is that a corner broke off? Have you tried driving a wedge in between the jaws?

I feel your pain. I had a stuck 9400 bullet myself. I did what zkling suggested. Realize of course that you can't just grab a punch and hit the edge of the slide. Distortion will result.
I turned down a big washer that fit over the end of the slide and fit inside of the vise body. Using a piece of 3/4 inch all thread, I made up a puller.
Don't try to wedge it open using the jaws. That risks ruining one or both jaw towers.

After disassembly, another technique is to fabricate a wooden dowel that just barely fits inside of the body and pound on that to punch out your stuck slide.

If you'd rather just quit, I'd be happy to exchange that vise for one of mine.

These are all excellent ideas. I didn't think about taking the back cap back off cuz it was such a pain to get it in and aligned, but I just popped it back off. Im gonna attempt to beat on the end of the dynamic jaw with a large dowel. The I'll have to give the washers and 3/4" threadall a try.

That was just some spray on grease I used. It foamed up very thick

I got it unstuck! Thanks for everyones help. I basically put a round cut board on the end of the dynamic slide for protection. Put the biggest socket I could find in there (almost 2" socket") and then swung a sledgehammer baseball bat style till it can loose.

The " if at first you don't succeed get a bigger hammer" is like the two rules I got at my first job:

1 Don't force it get a bigger hammer

2 When it starts turning easier it's tight enough.

Hate to be the bearer of bad news, but I think your slide tube is bent. I had one like that a couple years ago, would bind up just as it got to fully closed. It shouldn't bind till you get to the jaw casting itself. I was able to straighten mine, took all 20 tons of my 20 ton press.
