Just buy a name brand like Bend Pak, then all you have to do is decide 2 post, 4 post, symetric/parallel or asymetric. I just got a price of ~$2900 delivered for a 10,000# 2 post asymetric. I can't imagine you're going to do much better than that with a no name.

Is there more or less then 12' of head room?
Can I position the lift so it is at least 4' off the nearest wall?
Is there depth enough in the bay to position the lift so the overhead door will open fully with a car on the hoist?
Do I have at least 4" of 3,000 PSI concrete to support the lift?
Is a 220V circuit readily available?

I bought my Atlas BP8000 floor plate (9'3" min ceiling height and I have 10'5" which is not enough for the typical top plate) from gregsmithequipment.com about 5 years ago and like it for the $1400 price. The website has some Q&A about lifts and installing them. Happened to be a store 45 minutes away so I picked up the lift and installed myself.

I think there is another company selling a similar lift for a similar price that is worth checking out but forget the name. There is also a company bundling installation into a package price but you must provide the 220V.

Can you get a full lift with your 10'5" ceiling height? What is maximum lift hgt of the Atlas arms? How tall are the vehicles you are lifting, bottom of frame to top of roof?
I have 10' ceilings in my hoist area also. My lift fit just fine but I had to modify the trusses to get a full lift on the vehicles I put on it.

Besides the above issues, you need to know how much you are going to use it. Not much, then a decent cheaper model will do. If it's going to be used all day, every day then you need a rotary lift. Expensive ? Yes, but they held up with being used, really used. Never had a breakdown. Just some normal maintenance.

I would ask if the lift was ALI certified. I would not take one as a free gift if it wasn't.

Is AlI certification important to you?
What types of vehicles will you be lifting to determine your lift arm configuration?
Do you have enough clearance for a top plate lift? or will you need to get a baseplate lift?
How tall are you? Will the lift give you enough room to stand all the way up without adapters?

Once you decide on which lift , offer to buy if they will throw in something like portable oil drain or other accessory. Works for most equipment sales except outfits like Northern Tool.
