Sorry guys I have not been on in a while to post any new stuff. Been riding dirt bikes a lot lately (My other main hobby!), and attending a couple of recent shows. I have some upcoming plans for the truck. Going to be working on the sway bar for the front, that should be a cool project. Eventually I will be getting on the interior and getting it all ship shape.

I should be posting some new stuff fairly soon. Below is a pic from the last show I attended.

Stay tuned!

75Dually has a new shop dog... Er Fox! Opened up the shop tonight and this Fox was standing on my trailer. He made no move to run so I grabbed my phone and snapped a bunch of shots. He told me he had to split, but said he would watch over the truck anytime I needed... Yeah one cool shop Fox!

Will the sleeper cap be hard to wrap?

Unknown... I've been looking at it and I think it may be more of a challenge because it has a lot of complex curves. Not that they can't be done, they just take more time than the normal flat surfaces.

So we shall see...

Sorry for not posting in a long time, but it has been too hot in the shop lately. However tonight I finally got all the AC hoses and the new accumulator installed. Next stop is to get it evacuated and filled with new freon. I guess this means I need to get the rest of the ducting done in the cab. I'm ready for this system to blow ice!

Sorry guys I've been really lax on posting anything for quite a while, work has just been super busy, and that helps keep the roof over our heads and the parts flowing to the shop!

I do have some upcoming mods and I need to finish several small projects.

Stay tuned!

UGGHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You're such a tease. But I think I get it. I slow down in the end July and August because of the heat. Can't wait to see what's next.

A vinyl wrap update. Houston we were having a small problem! The hood was having some lifting issues. Actually what happened was the ridge that goes down both sides of the hood I was seeing a lot of lifting in the valley (pic below). I talked with Vvivid Vinyl and it turned out I post heated that area too much. So it was my installation error. Remember I don't do this for a living and this was my first time. This was an experiment from the get go.

So I ordered a replacement piece and tonight when it starts to cool down I will get the new piece installed. Taking off the old piece took no time at all. At first I was trying to take it off in one big sheet, but because I did a good job getting 99% of it laid down right there was a lot of tension pulling it back off. So what I did was take a very sharp razor and made light cuts, making sure to not get into the primer below, and cut it up into smaller sections. This was the trick for getting everything off much easier. For those of you who asked about doing this over the primer, it was untouched, there was zero damage to it, and it did not disturb the primer in any way when I pealed it off. Plus this product left no residue on the primer, so I am sold on it. I was so thankful on that point! So I will wipe down the surface, make sure it is perfectly clean, and install the replacement piece the same way (except where I messed up the first time!).

I hope to post those pics either late tonight or early tomorrow. Like I said when I started this truck I was going to show the good and the bad. I'm just like all of you out there I mess stuff up, and on this blog I have tried to show what I did and how I did it so we can all learn and make this a better hobby.

Stay tuned!

So I finally got the hood redone, well not 100%... It took a long time to get the replacement vinyl piece. The first go around USPS decided that I did not need it in a perfect delivery tube, so they played baseball with it and delivered the remnants. So order number 2, and that got here in a lot better shape than order number 1...

However I'm going to have to redo this once again!!! I got some dirt under the vinyl while doing the install. Totally my fault! I was not following my own advice and making sure the area was surgically clean. So I finished the install anyways just so I can drive it around town until the replacement vinyl comes in. Live and learn folks, live and learn!

How far is Lubbock from Houston? SWMBO is attending a conference next March (one of the perks of having the alphabet soup after your last name) in Houston, and I'd love to come visit.

I went over to the other site( a GREAT site) and checked your work out. You're an excellent craftsman !
As to the style ?.....about a 4 to 6 inch lift would be my first mode of attack

You will spend a day and a half driving from houston to lubbock, it's suppose to be 9 hrs but that's probably on a good day.

Houston traffic can be really bad unless you leave around 3am, that's between the drunks going home and morning communtors. Then you got the distance across the great state of Texas to drive.

I've lived in Houston, Lubbock, Odessa/Midland, and born and raised in Kermit. So yea I know all about that driving in Texas. You would be better of flying if you are pressed for time!

Depending on exactly where you are in Houston it is 8 to 10 hours. Yes the city is that big... You can do it in a day no problem.

I like them lifted too! But slammed is my first choice:thumbup:

I have done that trip several times and it is not that bad... Actually it goes through some very pretty Texas country side. Worth the time if you ask me!

Nice work, mate.
One question, if I may
Do you have a part number for: "ISO automotive 12V relay"?
NAPA Canada cant find it.
TIA
John

John,

I pulled both of these off Amazon.
HELLA 003510087 30 Amp 12V Mini SPST Relay with Bracket (this is a non fused relay)

HELLA 003530041 12V/25 Amp SPST Mini ISO Relay with 25 Amp Fuse and Bracket

The SPST designation means - Single Pole Single Throw. Perfect for an air ride setup.

I would highly suggest either of these. I used to work for Hella years ago and they make the best relays on the market.

Hope that helps!

Last night I rebuilt my TBI. This would have been an easy job that should have taken 20-25 minutes if it had not been for the fuel supply and return hard lines. The actual rebuild only took like 20 minutes, but getting those hard lines back on was a super big pain. However I did get them back in. It is always one bolt or something that should be simple that keeps a task from being done quickly. Patience is a virtue!

Stay tuned!

So I took the truck out today for a shake down run before we head Friday to Dallas for the C10's in the park. Before I left I topped off the tank to get an accurate miles per gallon reading Here were the stats: Drove 35.26 miles, and then filled the tank with 3.466 gallons, which equated to 10.17 miles per gallon. Better than I thought it was going to do... Most of the time I was doing 75 mph. So for an old big block that is not too bad, was expecting 8 miles per gallon, but was happy to get this result.

It has been quite a long time since I posted anything on my dually. However I do have some good news to report! I will be doing a Cummins swap in the early spring on the dually. A friend had a guy back out on a 5.9 12V he was selling. I went and took a look at it before Thanksgiving and we struck a deal on it.

The engine is going to come with a recently rebuilt 46RH transmission, now I do not plan on using this unit, but I do want a NV4500 at a minimum. So if you are interested in a great deal on a 46RE then shoot me a message.

I have been wanting to do this swap for a long time. I will not start on it until we get back from LST because all of my spare time will be getting the GMC done for that show, and I will need the dually to pull it down there.

So stay tuned this will be fun!

Had to amend the above post to take out the 68 GMC stuff. It is a completely different project.

Did you do any posts on your 81GMC? If so please send them to me I would like to see it. How difficult was the swap in your estimation?

In the next day or so, i'll upload them to my imgbb account and send you the link. My buddy did most of the swap, but it wasn't anything tough about it. Very minimal fab. We used the factory mounts on the frame, and cut the 292 straight 6 ears off and welded them to flat plate.

I'm thinking of doing a similar swap. I'd really like an '06 Cummins with an Allison behind it. Do you guys know if the C&C have the same frame as the single cab pickup?
