I like buying those Craftsman vises to flip. You probably could have quadrupled (or more) your investment without even painting it.

Beautiful!
Nice color match.
What is the paint?
I have been looking at one of those on CL, bit of a drive, but I don't care about that.
Thanks for posting.

Nice job on that one too!
Those look like a pretty stout vise.
Are they pretty well made?

Small but prettt stout, definitely a vise for light work but well suited for a lifetime of work. The ones that start 506.xxxxx were made in USA by columbian. The ones that start 315(?).xxxxx we're made in Japan but look identical, I believe quality is similar but it dont have the notoriety that the USA made vises do

Looks a like like the one the 0P posted, but different number.
Do you know what the one I am looking at is?
He's asking $25.00
Don't know if he is flexible @ all.

I'm not a seller, but what would she bring now?

Im not as good estimating for restored vises. People go bonkers for anything old that says craftsman. Iirc the last one i bought for $10 and sold for $40 without doing so much as posting a cl ad. Your vise definitely looks nice and if you're keeping it, good on you. It does look nice. I

Here are two of my 5" and I have a 4" and 3.5" that I will be finishing soon. The blue one is going to my son. I also have a 10" wood vice same era, Columbian made that will match the red/cream theme.

Nicely done!

I recently picked up the same vice but I'm in CA so of course it cost me 4x as much as you paid. :(

How do you remove the lead screw from the dynamic jaw? I left mine together when I painted it - I was in a rush so I spent about an hour on it cleaning it up then rattle-canned it with some extra paint I had from another project.

The clip that is circled goes into a groove that's covered by the swivel base screw. I used an old punch and laid a screwdriver across the beam to create a fulcrum. Put a rag over it because I launched it into my overhead lights, busting a 42" T12 bulb. It's on there tight.

Thanks guys, I got the two toned idea from the big Vises of GJ thread a long time ago. I refurbed and sold several but the pics were lost in a server migration so they don't show up in the posts anymore.

I've tried several color combinations but I think the red/cream is my personal fave so far.

I had the vision in my head, just needed to see it done. Now I'm on the lookout for another; the 50's offered tons of combinations!

Breaking lights ****, but it could have been your eye, right?

My vice doesn't have a spring clamp. It seems to have a thick C-clip in that area with very little space between the ends and no "eye" for a snap ring plier. I'll have to see if a flat blade screwdriver will fit between the ends.

Thanks!

Luckily I had my handy dandy glasses on (never go in the shop without them) and my shop coat on. Just glass in the hair which I whisk broom-ed then blew out with air.
