I got my lift yesterday and spent the afternoon preparing for install. I picked it up around 11:00, and got home around 12pm. I had to run out to get lunch, the hydraulic oil and the hoist, so I didn't get back home until around 3pm. I started to unpack everything and moved parts into the garage, as I could. A friend showed up around 3:45 and we started putting the lift together.

Had a few issues that took more time than it should have. The runways are bolted to a disposable frame and one of the bolts had a stripped nut that was run all the way down. It took about 30 minutes to get that bolt off. Someone did tell me they use cheap hardware on the frame, and they were right. I also had a few things that needed to be changed because my sequence of hardware placement wasn't correct on the release linkage, so I needed to undo it and redo it properly. I also had a funnel overflow while filling the oil. The only funnel I had that would work was a metal one, with the flexible tube. The screen at the base of the funnel slowed the flow in and overflow it went! nice mess.

About 9:30, the lift was in, cycled up and down a few times, cables adjusted for locking and moved into final position. By 10:30, I had the mess cleaned up, scrap disposed of, the cars on the lift/under the lift and the trailer/hoist loaded up and ready to return today.

The only issues I need to address are with the company. Two of the selling points to me was the height limit switch, and the cylinder rollers. My lift came without both. I need to know why.

Scott,
My advantage came without the rollers also just some kind of rubber there, though not a deal breaker it was a selling point! Also I believe the height limiter is a requested free option but you should be able too install it after the fact. Looks good in your garage too. I still find myself just staring at it like a 4th grader sometimes. I'm still trying to find the gray paint to match for some touch ups. Happy lifting!

Looks great. How high is it to your garage door in the open position?

My ceiling is exactly 120" (10') at the door opening. The door is down just a couple inches from that, as you can see.

Amazing. The garage is so organized, painted and clean, yet this picture makes it looked cluttered and nasty with that floor! Time for a new floor I guess.

Good work Scott, the switch comes in the mail separately. It's just a switch with cut wire though.

The rollers on the bottom of the cylinder were replaced by pads. They told me it was interfering down there so they changed it.

I made a mistake with my linkage also. I forgot to run it through the hidden hole in the middle of the runway. I was using it like that too. But only took a little time to redo it.

You got it up and running quick.

I missed the center channel initially also, but before I finished the linkage setup, I fixed that. I was putting washers where they shouldn't be, and not installing them where they should be. All better now.

Nice looking lift - you should be happy!

I know what you mean. I get a big grin every time I open or close my garage door with the LiftMaster 8500 I installed.

If you haven't tossed the metal the runways were clamped to they can be reused to make a nice rolling workbench.

And yes, lots of grins having the lift in the garage.

Not a member of any Camaro clubs in FL. I used to be, but not any more.

Yesterday, I had the door open while I was continuing to clean stuff up and a man and his wife drove by on a golf cart. The guy was almost hysterical saying, "Hey, he has a lift in his garage! Look at that! He has a lift!" I was in the garage and thought it was funny to here. In my neighborhood of about 1400 homes, I think I'm the only one with a lift, so it might be surprising.

Looks good! It appears you have *just* enough ceiling height in there, I bet the car on top is pretty close to the ceiling when you lift it up off the stops.
