Standard 2 car garage door (16' x 7') on a detached 2 car garage.
I have about 6" of clearance between the door and the bottom of the collar ties when the door is open; a standard opener should work. I have about 9.5" of clearance between the track and the exterior walls; not a lot of clearance on the sides for a direct drive (and I've never used one).
There are collar ties above the door, with storage above them; I don't have a high clearance door and don't have plans to install one any time soon. I see no advantage to anything other than a conventional door opener here. This is detached, so I'm not worried about noise. I want the most durable door opener possible.
I'd like to go with the Chamberlain MyQ controller, so it will work with the home system I'm setting up. Any recommendations on type of system?
At present, this is the ONLY access to the garage, so I'm contemplating a battery backup system to have good access until I get the walk door installed.
