I've been watching both since April. Torches were up in the overhead and welders were on an end cap.
I saw an employee putting clearance stuff on a flat cart on Sunday and noticed the torches on there, but they were still at $225.06.
Got there early Monday morning to check the price and noticed the torches dropped to $.03. Couldn't find them anywhere in the store. I found the same guy who I saw loading up the cart and he claimed he didn't know anything about it. Showed him a pic I took of the cart and asked if he'd check receiving for me (the only area I couldn't visually check myself). He comes back a few minutes later and says he looked everywhere but they're not back there.
The guy was acting super squirrelly so I walked around a bit and then asked an older woman from appliances to check receiving for me. She walks around the corner and is back with the same cart a few seconds later. Decided to take a victory lap through hardware on my way to check out but did not run into the guy.

At that point, I would have asked for a manager, and reported him. Still available for you to buy, and almost any large company has policies about employees buying stuff on company time.

I'd still like to know where these WELD-PAK's were found on clearance at? My local HD's didn't have them on sale.
I don't believe it was a nationwide clearance. Some stores did it at different times and some probably not at all. Some stores in my area had them on clearance months ago. Checking now its either item not found, or full price. So its a YMMV situation.

Dont think HD has the model 2734-21HDP in there system, my search for that comes up empty, I use the UPC to search for it 045242494163.

My store had some 30pk of 4' T8 bulbs down to $19.03 which is a pretty good price.
Also saw this little Febreze HEPA filter thing for $35, says originally $69.96 but if you peel back the yellow sticker it said $57 IIRC... Amazon sells them for $42 so it's not a huge deal but it does get good reviews.
Saw some ceiling fans marked down to around $11 but were sold out. Lots of lighting too...
No tools or anything decent at the two stores in my area...

As a former manager, if enough people report something, even with employee denials, things happen. But after working retail for a while at multiple levels, I have both more&less patience for things, depending.
