A question for you GJ'ers...A friend of mine was over the other day and asked how I was planning on lighting my new garage (20w x 23d x 16h). I said I was planning on installing LED shop lights. He said he has half a dozen of LED flood lamps (not sure on the specs of the bulbs) and suggested that I use them instead. Got me thinking...if I mount one in each corner and one on each side of the long wall (as high as possible), would this provide adequate lighting?

Totally depends on the lamp, and what you want light for. I have ten 65W-equivalent LED floods in my kitchen which is a lot smaller than your garage.

I don't see an advantage over LED or T8 strips. Seems like you'd have a dark area between the two cars.

The only advantage would be the flood lamps are free. I would rather spend the money and do it right. Thanks!

It would depend on my much light they throw? I have 12' ceilings in my kitchen and the Flood Lights just don't do it. I also have 24 4 foot Florescent in a light well and that works great. Great to add a little more light while working on the counters but that's it.

Don't use floodlights. Especially if they are the cheap square/rectangular ones with the large central LED element and a metal reflector.

would you elaborate on your opinion? I'm curious if you have the same brand I have?
I have used the 30W spot lights, really like them and no problem with the shadow man:dunno: The big problem I have now is they are all starting to quit working, after very little use. I have around 50 of these lights and so far the company has replaced them, but when the warranty goes I'm stuck with a lot of non working lights. I need to find someone on here that can show me how to get them repaired so I can fix them?

Have you gone to his garage to see if you like it?
