Typically what they do in this area is call the customer. If they get voicemail, they cancel the order and note that they contacted the customer but were not able to speak with them. This seems to be allowed.

If the customer answers the phone, they have to give permission to cancel the order. Next time you get a cancellation call, listen carefully to how they word it. They usually say something like "we don't have the item and we need to cancel the order". I usually respond with something like "I don't want my order cancelled, do you have something you can substitute or will you need to get it from another store?" They then put me on hold for a few minutes while they talk to the store manager, then tell me what the manager offered. Usually it is a substitution or that they will get it from another store, but a few times they have offered a Lowes gift card instead.

Hmm. Many times I've had the item cancelled but when I visit the same store, I've found the item on the shelf, or a hanging hook display.

I have had the same experience. Sometimes they can't seem to find the item, and sometimes I don't think they look all that hard. I have declined their offer to cancel and kept the order open while they keep looking for the item, they seem more willing to do this when the inventory count is high, indicating they are "missing" a box or more of the item. Usually they find them within a week or so, often in a different department or stuck in a corner somewhere.

Shows $599 in my area but also not available for pickup or delivery. I checked 10 other stores near my main one and all resulted in the same info.

Seems more to do with a clearance item that is not available at all stores or all states. Similar to some items on sale/clearance at one store but not at any others which leads to people asking about doing price matching or asking about buying it on clearance at one store, driving to another store and returning it there for full credit.

You will get a cancellation. Already tried Northbrook. Orland like you said is at 240.00., showing 2 in stock.

I actually picked it up in store. Didn't order online. Was up in the rafters. Tag showed $299. Employee there said it's a good deal for $299, little did he know that it was for $59. Every time I ordered something from northbrook for in store pickup I always got a cancelation.

I got a cancellation earlier in the week. Northbrook is an hour away. couldn't justify driving all the way there to check.

Sometimes it depends more on the eagerness of the employee. I know when I was in retail, we weren't supposed to spend too much time looking for a one-sie. There was just a good of a chance of it being found as there was of it not. It is harder to apply that thinking to a larger item, but I think we all have been surprised with home improvement stores inventory accuracy.

I got this drill for only $39 - normally $219. I think the stupid store marked down the wrong thing. The older model is discontinued and on clearance, but this is the newer model. It actually happens more than you think. I've found some new models that were on clearance for 75% off when the store should have marked down the older model lol.

See if other lowes have the blades for the same price. Or if they are available for shipping you can have it shipped home for free, then go to that lowes and ask them to honor their original price.

I did that yesterday and it worked. I ordered 2 boxes of flooring for $29/box. The store called me and said they couldnt find the 2 boxes and they had none. So i ordered 2 boxes shipped to home for $68/box, then i went to customer service at that lowes with my original receipt and asked them to honor the $29/box, and they did with no fuss.

Lowe's recently changed their price match policy in May, and they now officially price match other lowe's, although clearance is excluded, but the price tag never said clearance:

There are 7 johnson and irwin levels on clearance. Maybe if they go 90% off ill buy a few, but i dont need them. Last year i picked up several nice levels 90% off. I got a 36 inch one for like $5, a 7 foot long for $15.
