Inspired by the recent creeper thread, I'm wondering what the forum thinks of creeper seats. I've had a couple of cheap ones, but being a bigger guy, they don't last very long. I love being able to sit and roll around, and having a tray for tools is a must. Big wheels to roll over small rocks, zip ties, etc would be great. Adjustable height is nice, but not needed.

This is very similar to what I have been using

i had the Snap-on version of style you've posted in your picture with the addition of one drawer. gave that one to my son and kept my OldSchool MAC that has held up well over the years and refuses to be retired. aside from the factory vinyl covered wood seat, the MAC is all metal that is fairly heavy. the Snap-on rolls smoother and has a drawer, and i still prefer the old MAC.

Yup, had the same mac ones that I used and also had in my shop. Basic, well built and took a beating. Course lowering a car on one did alter its shape !

I use this Traxion 2-700 ProGear Mobile Gear Seat daily and I love it. The wheels are huge and will roll over extension cords etc just fine. The bottom tray is really big and spins so you can easily get to stuff. It does have the lowest minimum seat height that I was able to find, so it is a short one. 09c509d2a99c8c8e820c4e5d1f90b8d9.jpg

I also had this Pro-Lift C-3100 Grey Pneumatic Chair with Dual Tool Tray - 300 lb. Capacity for quite a while, well built and the drawers are small but very handy. I actually had two of the drawer sections stacked, without the seat part, and used it as a mini cart, that thing put up with some serious abuse. ced7803f5241f550cceef8c6684e15ce.png

Interesting way to attach the parts tray Ryan! Are those rivets coming up through the "leg" into the tray? Do you like how it works? I do really like the tailbone, but the lack of a tool/parts tray stopped me from looking at them, might have to think about your method a bit.

RT Dak, thanks those look really nice, will look to see if anyone sells them up here, seems amazon pricing is all over the place.

Figureitout, I had looked at the traxxion seat, Any quality issues? Would it be good for a ~250lb guy?

Just used some sheet metal screws to hold it on. Have had it 4-5 years now. The kids stand on it (then get yelled at not to). It has held up well. It's just a craftsman magnetic tray.

Hard to say on the weight since I'm about 175, but I really doubt it'd be an issue, it's listed for 400 lbs. I've had zero issues with it in a year and a half. It certainly appears to be well built and Amazon says it's US made. Their HQ is about an hour from me. If you need any detailed pictures or measurements let me know.

Here's what I presume to be an in depth review, though I haven't seen it.

Edit: Since you asked I went out to take a closer look and noticed this. The plate that attaches the top of the piston to the seat has this built up protective cover around the handle mechanism and the release button. I've noticed on other chairs of mine that that's all open, and I've had issues with the gunk and stuff causing problems. It's a nice little touch. 62f2cddf98a4d0d7542d65021cfaeca0.jpg

I have the harbor Freight one that looks a lot like this one, but it had some problems and I had to mod it. I replaced the plywood in the seat with some stouter plywood, put some thicker foam for padding, then covered it with some black upholstery vinyl. Then I upgraded the casters with some much nicer ones. Luckily I had all the upgrade materials on hand, otherwise you would be better off just buying a better one to begin with. There are some really nice ones linked in this thread.

ATD has their version of this one,Traxion 2-700 ProGear Mobile Gear Seat, posted above, but, it has a solid black seat. We use it daily in the shop and I'm not a small guy. Around $100.00 from ATD .
