When I search for best air compressor, the word "best" is ignored. Can someone share a link(s) with me that directs me in the right direction? I am looking for an 80 gallon compressor, around 12 cfm @90 psi. Retailers near me are Rural King, Home Depot, Menards, Lowes. I read bad reviews on Ingersol Rand and Dewalt. Can spend up to $1400. Thanks!

Using the link from above, if it's was me I would look at stretching my budget a little bit and get this Quincy. I've got a 20yo Quincy but it's not a 2 stage.

This one is in your budget but it's 60gal. Maybe evaluate whether you need 80g

Thanks for the link. I will be sand blasting wheels so I would prefer 80 gallons. I read good things here about the Baldor motor. Home Depot sells one fron Industrial Air, model IV 5018055. Dual stage, 17 cfm@ 100psi for $1351. Includes magnetic starter. What do you think? I can save another 5% till end of June on Discover card. Thanks.

After hours of exhaustive research, I have narrowed it down to two compressors, each sold at Home Depot, and each made by Campbell Hausfeld. Specs are: 80 gallon, 2 stage, 14 cfm@ 90 psi, 5 HP, 175 max psi. The first is the Industrial Air IV 5018055. Motor made by Baldor, per HD website. $1351.20.

The second is the Campbell Hausfeld HS 5180. Same specs as the Campbell Hausfeld CE3000, and the Industrial Air listed above. Price is $1144. I think they both have 3 year limited warranty.

Home Depot beats the internet prices, although shipping is extra from the store to home. I have read a lot of negative stuff here on Ingersol Rand and Dewalt. Quincy is a bit pricey for the 80 gallon units.

Any opinions on Campbell Hausfeld?

Well, it looks like its tough to get anymore replies to my thread. I called Campbell and they said their motor is made by Weg. They no longer make compressors for Industrial Air.

Have you looked at used compressors?

Last year i bought a 1960's IR T-30 for $400, put another $400 or so into it and now have a 25cfm @ 175 psi compressor that is much better than what you are looking at.

Fill your location out, just maybe someone will have a lead on a good used unit.

I second the notion of letting us know your loction. I know I've helped 2 members bring large purchases home so it wouldn't cost then for shipping.

Surely the OP knows someone who can bring it home for him.

He said he mentioned the extra cost to get the compressor shipped to his house vs free in-store pickup.

I understand, and I thought that implied he had no way to get it home. Maybe I assumed too much.

a belaire unit is decent and will run 1000-1100 dollar range. dont shoot me but the 60 gallon at harbor freight is assembled by belaire. same main parts, just a cheaper regulator ad pressure switch.

I live in Champaign, IL. Kind of wanted to avoid used stuff, but I have looked at craigs list recently.

The BelAire 216V and the Chicago Pneumatic RCP-561VNS are the same machine, different branding. Most places, including us have them a bit over $1000.

In my experience, 12-14cfm isn't enough to blast with.

I think Eastwood recommends 9 cfm for the cabinet/gun. Would a good gun need less cfm than a cheap gun? I'm new at this. I don't know how their gun compares to others.

Looks great, I'm sure you'll be happy with it. Assume you paid a bit more than $1k, since the 60 gal version is currently on sale for $999 at aircompressorsdirect.com?
