Hello. This forum was mentioned on another website (BITOG) several days ago and I thought I would check this site out. Well, I got hooked. I have been reading all sorts of posts on here and have gone back several months. I have found an overwhelming amount of excellent information.

Well thanks to you guys, I have been to some auto part stores looking for RLL, but was unsuccesful, but I did find the correct Super Lube (SO type) and I have taken apart all my ratchets, cleaned them and lubed them. I have sorted and organized all my tools, and I have refinished a small SO metal socket box as well.

Then I read the post about the Torx plus being different than regualr torx, and now I am looking to get a set of those. My SO set that a bought several years ago is the standard torx type. (this may be why I hace broken a few of them) I paid over $200 for that set. Now I wondering if I should dish out another $300 for the plus set or if I should go for an SK set for about $100.

All thanks to you guys...

Anyway, I was kindof kidding about the title.

Well, most of my tools as SO, but I have also some Powerbuilt tools that have served me very well. (all my PB tools are Tiawan, not the newer China made ones) I also use the Cman Pro combination wrenches that are prolly the best bang for the buck imo.

This has to be one of the most informative tools sites I have ever seen.

I would go with the SK set. I have broken Snap-On torx bits just as easily as china made. Save yourself some $$.

Just hit the fastener with a hammer a few times or heat it up with a torch before you start trying to remove it.

Welcome to the board!

I think no matter what you buy, you will break Torx bits eventually. Around here, S-K require mailing in for warrantee replacement. So for something like this, I would go with the tool truck that gives the best service.

Yeah, I have broken every brand torx bit that I have had. SO, Lisle, Cman. The problem with SO (for me at least) is that I don't work for a shop, so I usually call the guy up and see where he is in his route, or even if he is in town. There have been a couple of times where he doesn't hve the proper replacement bit in stock, and I have to wait til he does or find someone else...

There is a nice Cronwell set on ebay right now with a few days left, but the SK set is tempting.

It's all downhill from here on. Soon you'll be searching for 20mm sockets just to fill an empty peg on a hansen rack. :bounce: Welcome and enjoy.

I'd get two sets of the cheapest thing you can find. Then, WHEN you break one, you pull out the second and keep working, without having to wait one week for the truck and one more while he orders it. Later, if you still want it, buy the fancy set.
