I normally dont post anything firearms related, but ammo cans can serve a purpose in the garage as well, great for storage.

Anyhow, Palmetto State Armory has 12 .50cal cans (case) for $90 shipped. New manufacture, mil spec.

If guns are up your alley, check out their other deals. I buy from them a lot, parts, etc...

Just be aware, they do real high volume, and sometimes their processing time will take up to two weeks, but their prices are worth it.

As added incentive :
I had a plan to bolt 50cals together to form a tower to use that stupid narrow space everyone has next to the garage door. You'll need half inch spacers so the doors will open.

Just an idea since passed.
I still have the cans, scattered to other projects, just found something else for that space.

Fair deal. I might split with a friend. I also see the Federal 22 is coming down. I don't need any, but I'll pass that on as well. Thanks!

I've bought a lot from PSA, don't get in a hurry for shipping is the only consideration. Their deals are always great so I don't worry about the time to ship.

Just to add on...

As stated above, these cans are Blackhawk M2A1 Mil Spec. On the label, they are marked, made in USA.

4.9 stars on 40 reviews (all 4 or 5) at Midway for these cans (at a much higher price):

I picked up 12 a few months back,, spray paint stenciled in some stuff on each can. Kind of a fun project, and nice to hold 5.56, 9mm, 40, 45 or whatever suites your fancy

Just be sure to watch whatever card you guys used to buy like a hawk. Over the years there has been reports that peoples numbers get stolen after buying from PSA.

"Virtual Account Numbers" is all I can say. I don't order online with anything but.
look it up if your card issuer provides this service.

This can happen anywhere....... I have a card that I use "just for internet" purchases and it is NOT connected to my bank account.

I managed credit card and payment system fraud for a couple years. If you knew what was going on, you're never use a credit card and most definitely NEVER debit.

1 - I never use my PIN, unless at an ATM. Even then, I check the card reader.

2 - I never use debit. It's connected to your bank account and requires the use of your PIN. What's the point??? Use s credit card and pay your bill.

You all know eBay, well there's an auction site for identity thieves as well. The Secret Service and Treasury monitor, but it's not a violent crime, their only real interest is homeland security.

One story the SS told us was a 23 year old thief, who sold 150,000 identities in one transaction. They caught him because the buyer of the IDs needed cards. The plastic vendor sold cards to the buyer, then promptly called the SS. The SS tracked down the buyer, then he rolled on the seller.

Just to reiterate. PSA is generally slow with shipping especially during these one-off special deals. With that being said, i did order some rifle components and a couple pistols about a month back. The pistols were ordered on a Monday, shipped Wednesday, and arrived at my FFL on Friday. The components that were shipped to my house arrived Thursday. This is not the norm in my experience, but they seem to be doing better than they used to.

Their customer service is limited, but excellent. By that i mean they only have a handful of staff, so the wait time on the phone is a while, but when someone does pick up, they take care of you. I had a safety selector switch that was machined improperly in one of their lower parts kits, instead of sending me just the switch, they sent me a whole new lower parts kit.

EXCELLENT ADVICE! ^^^^^^
BTW! A debit card is the "key" to your entire bank account!

Which leads me to tip #3

3 - my checking account has overdraft protection by my savings account. That savings account has less then $1,000 in it. Enough to cover a brain fart on my part, but only @ $900 more than my monthly bills. So that's my total exposure from debit, which as I stated I rarely use. I have another savings account that has my tool money...I mean my wife and my nest-egg

Sure, if you're a victim of fraud the bank will refund your money, it's a PITA.

Great price for the .50 cal ammo cans. I can probably use 2-3 of them just not 12 of them. So what other types of storage can these be repurposed for? IMO the gasket lid might be too air-tight for some items. Repurposing ideas from anyone would be appreciated.

I have ZERO cost if my credit card is compromised and they overnight me a new card.
There is no need to worry for me. Maybe someone who needs a need to worry might worry....

I was referring more to Debit cards than Credit cards and there's a big difference. A thief can wreak havoc with your PIN.

Regarding credit cards though, while I admit that certain companies want you to panic, the risk isn't as great as they claim. In fact, more often than not, it's the merchant who takes the financial hit. Of course, you/I pay for that everyday with the increased cost of goods at retail. However, the loss of a credit card, and any charges that appear on one's credit card, are not what one should worry about. It's when a counterfeit card is created and becomes part of a larger identity theft that one should worry. AMEX cards have some of the highest credit limits and they are among the easiest cards to counterfeit. That's when life gets interesting.

There are DIY instructions for a nice radio. That'd be a nice jobsite or garage radio. Probably a nice host for other type of electronics, where form isn't required, but function/endurance are.

I'm in your boat, but I bought a dozen anyway. To be honest, I find them too heavy for regular use on ammo, except with 22. I needed some for that, but the only other ammo I'd store in them is long term storage. To much of a hassle to deal with otherwise.

I use ammo cans for storage of chains, straps, bungee cords, shackles, ammo, first aid supplies, hole saws, large nuts and bolts, hand tools, grinding wheels, wire brushes to name a few items that can be stored in weather proof boxes. I have one shelf in my garage that stores these ammo boxes and they are easily accessible.

so, i tried to order these. i get the message:

* Selected required options are not available.

for the item in my cart, but as near as i can tell, there are no options. it also won't provide a shipping quote. i assume that is because of the missing options, but it might also be because i live in massachusetts, a place some of these kinds of merchants won't ship to. i can't find any indication that there are places they won't ship, but you would think that if it was something like that there would be an easy to understand message about it.

I ordered some a couple hours ago. Big bold letters on checkout page that they will not ship any item to MA and I think NY.

I also just tried and got the same message after clicking to finalize the order. Frustrating.

A52.. Somewhere in the process I did see it stated they won't ship any items to Massachusetts. My shipping was to a non-restricted state, so I know that's not the cause of the error.

well, there ya go. i understand their point. MA is restrictive on what you can and cannot sell here, and trying to keep track of it would be a pain.

so, i understand why it can't give me any shipping options, although a message there would have been helpful, but it still doesnt explain what the issue was when it was just in my cart.

ahh, well, i suppose it doesnt matter to me, since i can't order them. thanx for those of you who cleared up the shipping issue, though.

WOW! I live in the "People's Republic of New Jersey" (strictest gun laws in the USA) and they shipped them to me........ I feel honored!

well, i bet NJ has strict *ownership* rules, but things like that are easy to deal with, since what is a firearm and what isn't is easy to figure out.

MA has strict rules about what you can get. large capacity magazines (greater than 10 rounds) are not allowed, pistol or rifle. collapsable stocks are banned.

of course, none of those things are regulated, and you can hop into a neighboring state and pick one up. not clear if that is illegal, since it is only illegal to *sell* one. . . . . .

 Basically same laws as NJ..... I have a NJ "modified" AR (10 rounds, pinned stock, no gas block, etc) and I would NOT even think about purchasing a unmodified out of state and bring it home. The bottom line is that a NJ registered fire arms holder can get in MAJOR trouble if they are caught with any "forbidden" firearms because they "know the law" as opposed as the "true criminal" who gets caught with a firearm and they get a slap on the wrist and probation. :gunfire: :bigun2:

FWIW! Firearm law violations are NOT something to mess with because it will ruin your life..... And even "IF" you have to defend yourself by shooting a home invader (inside your home) you will be arrested in NJ.

BTW! Kudos to PSA for shipping the cans to NJ :rocker:

Actually, depending on the DA, you're at risk for being arrested in a self defense shooting. It goes like this:

A guy is holding a knife to your wife, so you shoot him. When the cops show up, they see a homicide and they need to find out who did the shooting.

Lesson one, always call 911 directly after the shooting to get medical assistance for the perp. NEVER say you shot anyone. "A man has been shot and needs assistance". Then hang up! You've done everything required by law. Unload the gun and lay it on the table (assuming there's no risk of additional threat). Call your attorney.

Remember, when the cops arrive they'll find a body, assume homicide, and want to make an arrest. You don't need to tell them anything, until your attorney arrives. If that means they have to take you in, so be it. Even if you're 100% righteous, you can hurt yourself by talking.

A righteous, self defense shooting can cost you north of $75,000 to untangle. If you're in Texas, you're likely to be cleared by morning! Seriously, the battle you'll have is VERY dependent on the region of the country you live, the political party in power in your area, etc.

Better to be judged by 12, then carried by 6. I'm just saying chance favors the prepared mind. Have an experienced self defense attorney and act appropriately to make sure you're interests are served. It could cut that $75,000 significantly.

Stay safe.
