Best manufacturing line I have ever seen in person (and I've seen many) was the CAT dozer line in Peoria. Unreal. Place looks great!

Man that would be awesome to be part of a new shop. The heavy equipment repair shop I work in is 50 years old and shows every year of it. The surface of moon is smoother than our floors. They don't spend a dime on facilities maintenance and if they have to they do it as cheaply as possible. Didn't mean to derail but that is a sweet shop. Thank you for posting.

After a while, running steel treaded equipment in and out will eventually tear up your concrete. You should have set steel I beams where the tracks will run and poured the concrete up level to the top. That way the steel would prevent the concrete from being damaged. My nephews shop used to have dozers in for regular maintenance, and the concrete is in great shape for being 30+ years old.

That's how the floors are in the CAT plant where they make them. There are basically lanes put in of what look like railroad rails poured into the concrete wherever track type vehicles need to travel during the manufacturing process.

We poured a specific application grade concrete that won't wear. Only thing harder than this concrete is a diamond. We will see how the concrete holds up. That's why the dozer is there. I had the D8T moved to the new building to just run on the concrete to see what the results were. Doesn't even effect the concrete. 421bedf0559bd45a7294db92c5b4c2d5.jpg

Holy ****, whatta joint!

Congratulations on the new facility, she looks first rate. But I gotta ask, what ***** ran a tracked dozer onto that brand new slab. Or did you guys dump 5000psi iron mix for all the concrete in the shop area?

Also what are those units on top of the generator skid?, well I'm assuming it's a generator.

Re: Caterpillar dealer headquarters

How are you going to get the tracked machines in the shop if you don't drive on the concrete? I'm pretty sure a Cat dealer will have the appropriate concrete in their slab.

Bigger question is why only 10 ton Bridge Cranes? We have 2 of those in our weld bays! Two 30 ton Bridges in our Assembly area.
BTW
Which Dealer?

That ***** you speak so highly of would be I. Have specific application concrete and wanted to see how it's going to hold up. Question though, how do you suggest we get a tracked machine in the shop?

Woah, pretty amazing place! Congrats.
Huge facility (and quite a spray booth too).
One of my local dealers poured RR rails flush with the top of the concrete in their shop decades ago to deal with wear from tracked machines and it seems to have held up very well. You could always cut them in later if needed.

How much longer until you guys are up and running?
Where is the place?

Track or body/chassis dollies. So what is the design mix of that concrete?

Top 3" is made up of Emery top. Only thing harder is a diamond, so they claim. Can't image how efficient a track or body dolly would be when you are pulling in and out multiple machines a day.

That made my day! Thanks abaker!

That facility is amazing! Will there be tours during a grand opening? I'd love to drive up just to see it.

I'm sure there will be an open house for customers at some point not sure about a general public open house. We are still about 3 months out before we get an occupancy permit. Suspect we will know more when we get a better move in date.

That is an amazing se up.

From the size of the bays, can I assume you do a lot of mining equipment?
What is your payroll head count?

All general construction equipment. Nothing smaller than a D5 or a 320 size machine. We have about 50 technicians between two shifts.

Who supplied your building? And what size cranes do you have in there as well? Thanks.
