Anvil any help is this cast iron or?

Hi IPurchased this small anvil today.it weighs 22 pounds. The total length is 11" and 5 5/8" tall. Can anyone tell from the pictures if it a quality vise and how old it is?

I think it's without a doubt some sort of cheaper sand cast anvil. Grind on the bottom of it lightly and you can determine if it's iron.

One test of a good anvil is will it return or absorb energy. If you have a steel ball drop it on it from 6-10" up. If the ball bounces back a good distance then good. If it lands with a thud or minimal bounce then not good. You can also hit it lightly with a hammer and see how the hammer bounces. What you don't want is an anvil that absorbs all the energy of a hammer hit.

Is there any kind of name, or symbols on it anywhere?

There are FB pages & websites with people that could tell you by your pictures.
I Forge Iron might be one site to check on.
