Need a new belt for my old Craftsman 100 drill press I'd like to get back into service. I'd prefer to get one solid belt, and not the link-belt type of belt that is sold at Harbor Freight. Anyone know of a source for the correct style and size for my drill press?

Like crguy said, Napa. But honestly those link belts are really the cat's whiskers. They run quieter and smoother. Just have to get the narrow ones.

Or, upgrade to a link belt from Grizzly... You'll be glad you did.

Yeah, sometimes I ask stupid questions, then people give me good, obvious answers and then I'm like "DOH!". Didn't even realize the frayed, used belt on this press is a standard car fan belt, and can be replaced with same. Off to NAPA I go....

Thanks, guys!

Measure it first, then go to a hardware store. Measure the width probably 1/2". Then lay it on the bench and measure a string run around the outer circumference...that will give you the length.

Going to an auto parts store is not the right place, most auto belts are 7/16" wide.

Auto parts stores, especially independent stores like NAPA, carry (or can get) more than one width belt. They tailor their inventory to the community they serve. If the customers only need auto belts, then that's what they stock. But if their customers also need lawn mower, tractor, or truck belts; they'll stock those as well. They're more likely to have that belt on the shelf than a franchise hardware store or a big box store.

Motor repair shops also have a good stock of belts.

There may well be the size, still visible on your old belt. The width is in 8ths. Followed by the length to the 1/2 inch. 4L230 is a 1/2" wide belt, 23" long 5L375 is a 5/8 wide belt, 37 1/2" long. There is another system where belt width is designated by a letter.
