In 20 years I think I have had less than 10 tools replaced and about 3 ratchets rebuilt
A couple of the wrenches that were replaced could have been considered to me my fault but they replaced it anyway.
One was one of those plastic dead blow hammers that started to break up

On the other hand I think I have had over 40 or 50 cman wrenches replaced for breaking the box end in including a 1" combo wrench that we broke working on my friends tractor

not too many. I broke a 3/8's 10mm socket with a 1/2 drive breaker bar a few years ago. broke a smaller screwdriver tip by hand this year. was not abusing it.

So far this year...needlenose pliers (short and long), straight miniature pick, small pin punch. I think that's it. Nothing major.

Lately I'm discovering I can break just about anything snapon pretty easy. Hell a while ago I broke two 3/8 ratchets and one 1/2 ratchet in ONE week. Not too impressed.

Very few, over the years only a handful of sockets and a screwdriver or two.

If you guys had just waited a couple more weeks this thread would have been a full 5 years in the rear view mirror.

Somebody else dragged the thread up lol not me. Was at the top of the page.

And on top of that this ^^^^ mentality is what kills forums. Members whine when somebody brings up an old thread and then turn around and say do a search etc. Which one you do you want? New threads gumming up the works or old ones being beaten with the dead horse?

Back when I was working on cars.

90 degree picks, often.
10, 13, 15 deep and shallow impact sockets, would wear out at least once a year. Not technically a warranty item as they were worn out and not broken but dealer replaced them anyway.
15, 18, 3/8" and 1/2" drive impact flex sockets would break the pins at least once a year.
Never had to rebuild a ratchet head, them things just keep on ticking.

Just recently 1 flat tip screwdriver and a long handle 3/8 ratchet. The screwdriver my fault the ratchet was the first hex just snapped off. Both were fixed.

I've broken ONE Snap on Flex Ratchet, Hard plastic handle, E-mailed Snap-On they shipped a new ratchet out, no questions didn't even want the broken one, Told the Snap On Driver and he warranted it out on the spot and said now you have a spare! By Contrast I had a Craftsman SET that came without a 3/8 Ratchet, but had two 1/4 Ratchets, I went back to the store with the new 1/4" ratchet and they refused to give me the ratchet that should have been in it, saying that they had to warranty out the entire set... 10mm 3/8 drive shallow disappeared in the door of a Pontiac Grand Am in the 80s... Green Handle Ratcheting Screwdriver Disappeared with two custom painted tool boxes along with about $80k worth of hand tools...

Only SO thing I've had grenade was the lock on my box. Turned the key, locked the box, pulled out the key and half the lock came out with it. Thankfully the portion that actually keeps the box locked is intact, and I promptly called my driver and he set a new key set aside for me and is going to replace it tomorrow.

I'm not even mad. Just glad I went with a dealer who bothers to answer the phone when a little guy like me calls.

I've had a few bad impact and chrome sockets, a cracked crows foot, a hammer, a prybar, a punch, a few rethreader and taps and dies. All replaced under warranty with out issue over the past say 5-6 years. Most items just wear out. Although some fail like the 24" pry bar tip cracking, but all still seem to get replaced as part of the service... that said I have some snap on line wrench that were my fathers still going strong some 25-30 years later.

I say their bound to be some minute rate of failure thru the process of making tools.
And some times they make it out of the factory. What I can say is haven't broken any hard line Snap On stuff due to missuse. Most of my failures have happen during routine service.

I break a snap on chrome deep socket about once a month. the 8 and 10mm in 3/8 always split at the hex end when you put some torque to them. I love how they taper down it allows them to fit in a recess where nothing else can, but not so strong. I have an FHCNF72 mini roto ratchet that i stripped the gears out of and and a 21mm chrome 1/2 deep waiting to be warantied now. I also have a 10mm wrench that the box end is just plain worn out and doesnt fit tight anymore.
I only see the snap on man a few times a year to buy some stuff and warranty tools. Usually i let them sit until I have a few or am ready to buy some new tools before i call him up and meet.

I normally need a ratchet kit (on one of them not all of them) once a year and a typically a selector switch or two on the ratcheting wrenches.

I maybe do a screwdriver shank every other year and a tap driver socket. Went through a couple of snappy tap wrenches before being so disgusted I threw it in the scrap and bought a starrett.

I've had a few of the bolt extractors break, a flat head driver bit, and a thread tap that broke. Those have all been since my driver quit. But I got them all replaced with a call to customer service.

And yes the taps and dies are covered with the lifetime warranty.

I've had to warranty only a few things over the years.

A dozen or so phillips screwdrivers, mostly #2's, a couple #1's and one #0. 1/2", 5/8", 15/16" wrenches (Always the same thing, hitting them with rubber faced hammer). Ratcheting screwdriver that somehow lost it's magnetism. A handful of sockets; 1/4" drive 5/16 deep, 3/8" drive 1/2" deep, and a few others, all 3/8" and 1/4", never 1/2" drive. Probably another half dozen things that I can't remember, I do remember going to the dealer with warranty stuff occasionally.

I've actually used my Proto tools a lot more than my Snap-on, because I bought them first, when I did more work. I've broken a pretty similar assortment of Proto; several #1 phillips, a 1/2" x 3/8" drive deep socket (same time as the Snap-on one), several 1/4" drive standard sockets, a few 3/8" and 1/2" drive sockets, a brand new 16mm x 1/2" drive socket (first use, obviously bad metal), 1/2" drive u-joint. Don't recall ever breaking a Proto wrench.

I've never broken a Proto or Snap-on ratchet, but have broken numerous Craftsman and cheap ones. Have broken countless Craftsman sockets, usually don't crack but just stretch and slip. My first good tools were Craftsman, and they got used heavily, so they had a lot of chance to break. Have cracked several SK sockets. Every brand of #2 screwdriver strips out sooner or later, most of them sooner. All the Gearwrench stuff I bought broke very quickly, so I stopped buying it very quickly. Haven't bought any more for 15 years after that first experience. Have had several cheap Husky tools from HD break; they were tools of expediency that I had to buy when I was somewhere without tools and needed to do something, and they didn't work very well at all.

Have never broken a Harbor freight tool. Then again, I've never used one except incidentally, the few I have gotten in tool lots and tool box assortments have gone back out the door after just looking at them.
