Just bought an air framing nailer for a good price. I have borrowed a friend's a few years back and it was nice to have around. Used it more than I thought to build work benches, light remodel, etc.

I'd like to have a size or two of nails around to use. What are the best sizes to keep around? Galvanized or not? Ring or smooth shank?

If I have have a big project, I don't mind getting the specific kind I need. Just want to have the basics so I don't have to run to the store in a pinch.

Jeeper,

you may want to seek out the specs for your particular nailer...mine has specs and only handles a few sizes..and types...

It's the Ridgid R350RHF. It does 2"-3.5" length with .113" to .162" diameter round head, plastic collated nails.

Don't ask.
I use 3.5" most often and have 3" for nailing 2xs face to face. My nailer doesn't sink long ring shanks reliably.
2" ring shank are good for nailing through 1/2" material and works OK for 3/4" material.

You need a good nailer to get the ring nails in all the way. Mine don't seem to get them in all the time. I spend the extra and get galvanized too. BCD
