Opened the boxes and inspected my new Dewitt's radiator with 12" SPAL brushless fan package and my new Performance Distributors Chevy stealth DUI. :rocker:

I am hiding in the garage. We have visitors from Europe who are here to see my wife. I made some Tim's dark roast coffee and microwaved a McD's fruit and fiber muffin. I put peanut butter on the muffin and made it last until the coffee was gone.
Now, I am going to leave the lights off, watch the call display on my BlackBerry and clean some Myford Lathe parts. The visitors want to go to the Harley dealer today, for a look around.

Whilst I was rummaging around the shop I unearthed my long forgotten WALKER TURNER band saw blade welder. I have had it for well over a decade and I have never used it other than to test its function. I put it on Craigslist for $675 cdn and in less than 5 minutes the phone started "ringing". This is a real beauty. The cabinet has rounded corners and the best part is MADE IN USA.

Got up, made coffee and then cleaned a chunk of the garage up. Then I must have gotten a wild hair in my *** because I dragged these two sections of sun worn and weathered wooden fences that were leaned up against the back of the garage when we bought the place and lined the walls.

Oh yeah, one mouse nest, and umpteen billion spiders that got killed. Still have to do behind the tool box.

I have a BMW 5 series reclining front seat on a roller stand. It is for me when I am at the lathe. I often use the recline mode to have a nap and this afternoon was one of those times. I open one of the vise-grip drawers for a foot rest and in seconds I am making Z's. I had a two hour nap this PM and I am not awake enough to feel guilty. I can be sure the youth pastor from across the lane will have his reasons for why I should have guilt. It was his god, he said, that punished me with cancer 8 years ago.

No guilt or shame in taking a nap in a comfy BMW seat

Too hot today but a few days ago I put in the vinyl-faced aluminum kick plate riser for the upper step as well as installing the rubber tread and aluminum nosing on the upper step.

Lower step and two more risers to go.

Next to do will be shelves to one side and a wall (to close off the furnace area) on the other. The steps look nicer with full-width risers and it will close off the dirt-catching area behind them. Original steps just had some pieces of leftover carpet stapled on them. The rubber treads will be a huge improvement.

Last night i moved the roof ladder and 32' so that they both take up less room in the shop.

I also cleaned put the front corner

fordkid88 nice look and the tin with some patina on it...over the top!!!!

Thanks! I've got a long way to go. I want to do a weathered service shop look. The work light will be replaced with an older styled round shop light. Working on a air hose real made from a steel rim. Lots of little things to keep me busy.

Removed some old bike oil/drippings from garage steps and was going to give a shampoo and **** up excess water with the *new* Ridgid shop vac but it turned on for power test, but then once had some water on steps it wouldn't turn on again. Hence I ended up here!-)f7f5ea4570df63314d09ee127cc6a9bf.jpg

New wireless router - the old one died from heat exhaustion I guess from the 90+ degree days that we've have recently. Actually not a new router - bought a new one for the house and moved the old one to the garage but it's still new enough to support the 5GHz band. Not that it really matters since the garage computer is wired but it's nice to have a good connection in the garage for my phone and tablet - the house router doesn't like to go through the garage door.

Edit - forgot the pic. It was taken on my iPhone so it's sideways. Go figure.

I've been having Yardsales this weekend so not much other than cleanup and sometimes repair of what I'm selling (resurrected a Rototiller that had no spark today...) going on.

I did receive a 7W LED bulb for the vintage T10 (Tube) holding work Lamp I rewired for the "new" mini worklbench.

Man I like this light! probably about 70W equivalent, and the bulb is directional (and has 180 deg rotational capability). I JUST barely got it to fit - I had to disassemble the lamp, screw in the bulb, then reassemble the socket onto the lamp. its an over tight fit, has slight deformation on the back edge, but works and with only 7W I don't have a concern about the lamp heat melting the wires that law against the bulb with an inadequate heat shield... (More like a heat conductor...)

Here are shots of the Lamp, Top Bottom and on the top of the tool cabinet:

And shots of the light it produces; the last two are with and without the floor lamp I have next to it for general lighting, with the last being without. I cannot tell on the bench surface if the general light is on or off with this work lamp on. (60W equiv LED for the general light...)

This will be a great work light and the bulb would be a great replacement for an old fashioned drop light (directional by definition)

Currently changing a front tire on my tractor. No tire changer, but having to improvise. Got a couple tire spoons and broke the bead with an arbor press. Maximum redneck.

Started on the bottom part of a new king size bedframe. Once this side is welded I will flip it and use it as a pattern for the other side.

Awesome, I never thought about using my scaffolding as racks.

ya it was one of those passing thoughts I had. the walk thruogh section worked out awesome. I also added wheels to it, incase I ever need to move it for what ever reason.

using 6 wood scaffold plank on the second teir as well, it worked so well I might do a second tower.

What did you do "IN" your garage today?

That's a pretty stout bed frame. Are you building that for Tampa?

I can't say, NDAs and such.

This is the full size I built a few years back. Going King size this time. It's going to be stout for sure. I will eventually total up the total linear feet of tubing used, rough estimate is north of 300'

Pretty sure I don't need quite that HD of a bed frame, but it's good to know who to call if I do.
My garages have seen drag bikes, bracket cars, road race bikes, furniture, cabinets, engine swaps, game and hog processing, beer and wine making, holiday dinners, fish fries, steak fries , turkey fries and I'm sure a lot more that I'm forgetting at the moment. Today I was making home made bratwurst. From scratch. With a hand grinder. My wife asked if it was going to taste like "Real" bratwurst. Not sure what to say to her after that....

Not as hot today so finally got to spend some time in the garage. Also the two broken bones in my foot have healed to where I can stand a bit longer. Got to the scrap wood box. Cleaned it out and tossed all sorts of odds and ends of scrap lumber, plywood and MDF. Kept all of the hardwood. Put new casters on the box and patched the cracked corner of the garage floor with Cement All (great stuff). Also did some preliminary refurbishing work on the 1938 Craftsman Tablesaw that belonged to my dad. Motor (new in the early 70's) runs well, won't replace until needed.

Swore - a lot.

Working on the parking brake on my 05 Yukon.

Tell me about it! I spent several hours yesterday replacing the parking brake shoes on my 04 CR-V, and I didn't even finish. I hate those drum-in-rotor parking brakes; I honestly would just rather have drum brakes on the rear! I'll be finishing up the parking brake today, along with rear pads and rotors, then I need to inspect the front brakes and replace them if necessary.
