Hi guys, I'm still a little ways off from ordering my cabinets but I wanted to start a thread now in hopes of gaining some advice ahead of time. I'll end up posting pics when I get things built but for now here's what I'm thinking.

Newage pro cabinets with steel framed work benches built around them.
My question for you guys is how have you built drawers under your benches. I'd like to stick with all steel for this project. My thought is to have a row of drawers under the bench top and above the cabinets to raise the work height to where I want it. I will have 2 separate benches and plan to keep one of them lower (no drawers) and one of them at about 40". I figure this gives me a space to work with large enough for some drawers on the taller bench.

Please post pics and or links. I'll need a source for some good drawer tracks as well as some design ideas.

Some one posted on here; the drawers were from his SO dealer and were under the top surface.

Absolutely nothing wrong with your idea. Go ahead and measure twice and make the height work for you. I would,

I've built plenty of steel drawers, it's not that difficult. But I'd suggest you PM Rsanter (pretty sure that's the right spelling, I'll check). He had a bunch of lista drawers he was trying to sell. For what it would cost to ship, I have no doubt you'd come in much cheaper buying and shipping verses building.

Also if that doesn't pan out for you I'd suggest maybe buying a donor set(s) of matching drawers from newage and tossing the cabinet. Then everything would be a perfect match and you'd have very little fabrication to do.

I guess I don't have enough posts to comment in the classifieds? The mods don't want the new guys getting any deals?

Right but my question is how have you built steel drawers?
If you're asking the question, you may not be super ready to dive into doing it with a brake? I have done HVAC sheet metal in the past.

My opinion is it would save me lots of time and frustration to try and sourced used drawers and slides from existing boxes.

Because SnapOn trucks are more of a full service business, they do some drawer swaps for owners of their boxes. You might contact a nearby one and ask if they swap two shallows for a deep for owners at times. Obviously this would take patience for the right thing to show up.

I'm sure it's not you. An invested bit of time and involvement in the community helps keep most sales venues populated with "desirables."

They don't allow anyone to comment in the for sale section. You need to send him a PM

Chevyefi, I have plans to build a brake off the big 4x8 table I just built but not there yet. My thought was angle iron and sheet metal but I really do like the idea of just getting an extra newage tool cabinet and using all the drawers so they match. $500 for that cabinet is a little steep but hell if I'm $5000 in and that extra $500 makes it hit that next level it seems worth it. Makes me wonder why newage doesn't offer one more base cabinet height that's a few inches taller.
