So, exciting news. I just ordered my hoist!

XPR-10AS-asymmetric-two-post-lift-5175397.png

Went for the Bendpak XPR-10AS
Hoist: $4050
Delivery & Install: $550

Have paid the invoice already and looking forward to it arriving. First week of August they should have it available in a 240v motor for me.

Great work on everything Steve, the hoist looks like it will be a ripper!

What brand/supplier is the gutter guard you used? Is it from someone here in Brisbane?

I can't wait to get a car up on the hoist!

As for the gutter guard, it's http://bluemountainmesh.com.au/products/
They're in Brisbane and you can call them and they'll deliver it. It can be special ordered from Bunnings too.

Awesome. I've just submitted for a quote on their website. Thanks for the tip.

Bet you're just itching to lift something on the hoist right now.

I just started looking at your CNC mill conversion thread. I'd love a CNC mill in my life.
Haha that thread is old. The poor mill has been in storage for more than a year during house move/shed build. Hopefully some more progress in the near future now that its been moved into its new home.

How is your floor coating holding up so far?

Awesome hoist mang!

I plan on getting one too. I couldn't have the pitch of my roof going east to west like yours, so Im limited to 3m where the eaves are. I hope i can still fit a car on top and one underneath.

It looks like alot of work is getting done at your place, i see you have a tonne of racking up in your shed too.

And i concur with the others, action shots of the hoist!

Rudi.

I had the same problem as you Rudi. I found almost no clear floor models low enough to fit under 3m. I went for a scissor type, but a regular two post with the cross beams on the ground would achieve the same height. I can get my E36 3 series about 1.7 m off the ground (chassis, not wheels). So if both cars are sedans you should be ok. Link to my build thread in my signature if you wanna see pics of heights.

I actually still have some height concerns with my 3.6m eaves. Cars will get close to the roller door when it's open and i need to be mindful of that. There's also a possibility of a car hitting the roof but i dont think ill need to raise them that height to work on them as I'm a vertically challenged guy anyway.

Looks great! Can't wait to see it in action. Why did you go with an asymmetric option? More room to open the doors?

Yeah you can use this hoist in asymmetric or standard mode. I liked the idea of more room at the front of the bay to work on the engine. That and the doors.

A mate of mine's dad works on offices and fitouts for hospitals and he gave me a bunch of false ceiling T-bar and hanging brackets etc.

I spent a day with my old man working out the best way to hang the lights and ended up doing this...3b857d3bdbc0d2e2043cfd52a4445990.jpg

Re: Steve's Aussie Shed/Workshop Build 12mx7m & 3.6m High!

More lights went up this weekend. Starting to get pretty bright in there at night now.

May not look like much progress but setting up the hooks for the t-bar takes a while. A mate came round and we did an assembly line manufacturing the brackets and hooks. We also made a template for the positioning of each bracket so i can pre drill the holes without measuring each one with a tape.

I should get all the lights up pretty soon. 8 lights per bay for the 3 wide bays and 4 in the work bench short bay making 28 lights total.

More lights went up and got wired this weekend. I've got 8 to go but have run out of Tbar. Waiting for my mate to hook me up with a couple more.4e56e77bb95d92533de719b51eb2b3cf.jpg

Sunday marked a momentous occasion with my Honda finally returning home. It's been stored at my father in laws for the last 6 months.

I couldnt help putting it up on the Bendpak.

First car in the air. My god I'd recommend one of these lifts to anyone. It is rock solid and the asymmetrical design is amazing. I can open the door of the coupe to full extension without hitting the arms or the posts of the lift.8d685676ee7cfe6414e2741d1bb6317d.jpgb709cce251b824c505be210e4403bd47.jpg88e7a2f3bcb9dc4aba45a077a0f4d407.jpg

Nice pic! I'm jealous of the lift, and all the nice lighting. I upgraded to a 75 watt bulb a couple weeks ago.

All the lights are LED. Got 30 of em from an ex-office fit out. They were installed then removed because they didn't fit well for the office. I picked em up off the electrician who removed em for 100 bucks!

There's no rating or any information on the housings but they're nice and bright and the colour is spot on.

With 28 hung from the ceiling I get no shadows anywhere which was the main goal.

Good work Steve! Lights look great. Lift seems perfect too. Very clean engine bay on the Honda, bet it goes well with a snail that big!

First real workshop job in the new shed. Got my JK wrangler up on the lift and did a timing belt change and while I was there I did the water pump and radiator hoses.

I then figured I'd replace the serpentine belt and pulleys. Pulleys are easy but It's nearly impossible to find a tensioner for a reasonable price. Jeep wants 400 bucks for one! I'm looking at an option at the local parts store tomorrow.1d5b6f866f12a9fd0e414b1394dc4032.jpga1e9f2835edfd0251358aa39e0e53dc1.jpg

As promised some smoked meat pics. Beef ribs, lamb shank, pork ribs in that order.b40c251b377935e2b4f5ab1a53566bc2.jpgf8beda536c1476dd470618acbeaeb439.jpgc592f94618d3d6ea2db3bd92f625966a.jpg

Thanks for the light info! I am getting ready to put lights in my garages. My electrician was trying to talk me into LED's. After seeing yours I may go with LED's. Thanks again! Keep up the good work.
