hey guys,

i've recently been wanting to put a wall clock in my garage as i often lose track of time when i'm working in the garage. but i don't want to just put any $9.99 clock on the wall... would like something unique and "cool" and I see there are a lot of options all over the internet.

so, that go me thinking.. i'd really like to see what other people are putting up in their garage/workshop to keep time. please share some pictures...

Re: show me your garage/workshop clock thread...

Just bought this on eBay. 1969 Budweiser Lighted Clock (32" X 9"). I will wire it through the wal so the power cord will not be visible.

I've been collecting watches and clocks much longer than I've been collecting tools, but finally made the foray into big electric wall clocks.

This bad boy's about 13 inches across and was in good working shape. Just needed to be dusted and the glass cleaned. It has the older/more reliable brass-bodied synchronous motor and dates to 1957.

What cool shop clocks do all of you have?

This one's hanging in the basement shop. It's an 8-day Howard Miller with Westminster chimes. I picked it up at a garage sale for five bucks because it wasn't working. I cleaned and oiled the movement and now it keeps pretty good time. I'm on the lookout for one of the old round ones that has the little red/white window that turns red when the power goes out but I haven't run across one at a garage sale yet that is cheap enough. I'm also kind of a watch/clock collector (hoarder?). Thanks for starting this thread, Tym.

This is my Standard master clock that came out of a school. I had Bob Davidson pin stripe it.

COOL! You guys just reminded me I have an old clock that was in my last shop. Some old guy gave it to me nearly 20 years ago (he had to be pushing 90). Nice guy, I went to look at some Model A stuff, ended up with all kinds of stuff!

It has the red dot when the power is out...

I use a second hand clock I bought from goodwill.

I paid cash as there was an understanding that there was no tick.

I too collect clocks. nothing electric in the house, all key wind. have about 30 or so of them, and just got my first cuckoo clock this spring. they all work and it's been a fun hobby learning how they work, cleaning, adjusting, fixing, etc.

in the shop(s) I have electric because they are advertising clocks, no neon (yet). I've got snap-on, Napa, Porter Cable, and a few GE school slave clocks.

^ Very nice collection! Is that a Chelsea in the back left of the first picture? I have one with a Bakelite case as my kitchen clock.

The Neon job used to hang in the local small town hobby shop- cruising around at night 'back in the day'- we'd slow down to check what early morning hour it was since the old iron we all seemed to drive never had working clocks. I've had it since circa 1985.

Hmm...new thread vs. necropost?

Maybe the mods can merge the threads if that is their preference.

Here's mine up on the basement wall; I reused an anchor that was handily still in the concrete.

My dad was a high school principal and had a big Stromberg clock that came from the school when the classrooms were remodeled. Apparently they were some sort of special clock that all kept in sync, so he had to have one of the maintenance guys rewire it for him to just be a regular plug in clock.

That was buried in a box of tools I bought off a guy a few years back. Runs great!

Probably a slave clock with synchronous motor, similar to my IBM. You have to fool the clock into an hourly correction cycle to set the time.

Just snagged this 1974 beauty for $2 at an estate sale. Would've made a nice shop piece - but the wife put it in the living room! :D

This vintage clock kit came to me from my ww buddy. He found it when he was cleaning out his dad's shop. Looks like it was from the 1970s. I spent ten minutes putting it together and slapped a battery in it. Runs great, very appropriate for the woodshop, and carries a a memory for a ww who passed.

Let’s see your shop clocks

I’ve seen the clocks that look like saw blades. What other novelty type clock do you have for your shops.
Let’s see ‘em!

I wouldn't necessarily call it novelty, however it is made in the USA and supports a good cause (employs people who are legally blind).

I recently spent a while looking for a nice clock for my garage, I found this cast aluminium one, I had to replace the mechanism but am very happy with it.

I made this one for our GTO club christmas gift exchange. The party got cancelled due to the southern snow storm last week. I guess I get to keep it now :)

This will be going up in my garage after I finish painting the walls. It's 4th gear from Jenson Button's 2006 Formula 1 car mounted on an 8" diameter piece of carbon fiber.

It's really not " vintage", but I needed a LARGE clock just to see. Anyway I used half a sheet of expanded steel and some address numbers. Oh I forgot....the center of the clock is an old hub cap.(the door below the clock is 8' tall). With hands that are 24", I can see it anywhere in my shop.

I would dig that for my bar. All my decorations are Bud promo items about that vintage. Nice find!

At a hydraulic shop liquidation auction, I placed a bid, but lost on a clock like this one to put in my shop:
