Hi folks,

January 2008, I bought my first Genius Tools on Ebay. First I thought "let's test this taiwanese junk"...but today I must say...TOP tools, for a really great price.

Found tools for some bucks which are normally only offered by snap-on for lot much more money than offered by genius.

Well, here a small overview of my genius tools

Take a closer look at this extra long wrench...hell I love them. 0 offset, a good tool for those new serpentine belt tensioners, where a normal wrench doesn't fit, or for hard to reach turbo charger bolts, GREAT! Here a comparison between a normal snap-on wrench

I own a 1/2" long flex ratchet...bought for ~25$....same from Snap-on...over 130 Euro! Abused all my genius ratches, because I want them brake....but they doesn't want brake.

Next picture, got a punch set for just 20$ with oval heads...hard to get this head design in germany...expensive on the truck...cheap by genius tools.

Another great deal was a bent hose clamp plier LOCKABLE! For less than 14 $.

What are your experience with genius tools?

P.S.: I would bid, that TOPTUL tools are the same like Genius Tools (same manufactor)

I would have to agree with you Hawk.

I was interested in a swivel-head ("roto") ratchet after seeing and using a friend's SO version. I was surprised at how pricey they were from SO, but I saw the Genius version and bought them. I bought 2 of the 3/8 and 2 of the 1/4 drive swivel ratchets with hard plastic handles a couple of years ago. I gave a buddy of mine one of the 1/4's as a gift. I really like them- not quite as smooth as the SO version, but for the price they're hard to beat.

I also agree with Hawk's assessment that the Genius tools appear to be from the same factory as the Toptul stuff. I would say that the Titan tools I've seen do not seem to be quite up to the same level of quality as Genius or Toptul.

They are both made from the Rotar Group that makes Toptul and Genius. The ones I have from both of them aren't riveted shut thankfully you can add all the RLL you want!!!

they also make several ratchets for harbor frieght. many of the hf ones seem to be riveted shut making cleaning and lubing very difficult. that ratchet mechanism seems to be a direct copy of the 72 tooth facom and or sk models.

Have an inch socket set (3/8) with ALL sizes even those metric/inch mixed stuff in 12point. Abused them in an 1/2" Impact gun (with an adapter) works great!!!!!!!!!

Any experience with genius tool boxes??? Are pretty cheap with all you need, much space, bearing, removable drawers and (most important) spare parts.

I spend thousands of euros in snap-on....and I'm absolute convinced that it is not worth to buy 120 Euro ratchets when I can get Genius stuff!!

I have a set of 3/8" Genius impacts and am very pleased with them. I think they go from 10mm-22mm and don't skip any sizes. I know I paid less than $30 shipped for them and beat on them with my MG325. I would definitely not hesitate to buy from them again.

I have the 1/4, 3/8, 1/2 roto head, with red handles and love them all. I also have a stubby 3/8 chrome roto head and it also works great. The other things I have gotten and think are awesome are the torque sticks and plastic lined impact sockets for lugnuts. They came with extra sleeves and plastic inserts and work great. Also I got a t-handle ratchet screw driver and while it isn't a snap on it does work fine.

I have sold Genius Tools for several years. I have yet to have to warranty a socket. Good stuff. Great pricing.

Thanks !!!! That a honest comment from a snap-on dealer!

My respect!

I think half a dozen or more companies import and put their name on the same better grade tools from China and Taiwan. Some "look" the same and feel different in quality, but many seem to both look and work well too.

What I don't like is that some of these brands are not going to survive, and none seem widely enough distributed for warranty issues, except for HF and they don't have much of what seems to be the real better grade tools.

OTOH if the warranty issues are as few as expected, maybe its ok.

I wonder how many manufacturing jobs Genius tools provides here in the US, regardless, I'm sure they treat their employees real well, no matter where they are.

Since Genius has no manufacturing plants here in the US, I am going to guess that the number of manufacturing jobs that they provide is fairly low.

There is a Genius factory/warehouse right here in Mississauga. All my impact sockets (excluding my MAC 12pt impacts) are from genius and they are pretty indestructible. They are chrome-moly too. I saved thousands going with these over truck brands. Also when you lose a socket, it doesn't hurt like losing a $30 truck brand socket.

SpiderGearsMan, I dont believe you or anyone has the right to further your 1st Amendment rights on a tool forum.

We ALL know the USA and its foreign trade policy is all messed up.

YOU arent going to fix it on this web site, by badgering members with your unwanted anti-asian rhetoric.

Unless everyone on here is buying new american made tools, it doesn't really matter what you buy. I personally would not buy a tool truck tool new, they cost just to much. So if I dont buy new it doesn't really matter. Same with cars, if your buying used doesn't really matter who makes it. Even if you buy a used toyota, the people that will repair it are most likely going to be american. I will buy new craftsman sockets all day long, I was just curious of the quaility between them and genius. I would never by a new SO socket, i have used them in the past and I don't see the difference. If you want to blame anyone, guess you could blame the advancements in modern production process. Who wanted things built faster, with less problems and less employees, big business and corporations
