i just picked up this old neon sign late last night from BenD, bought it about a month and a half ago. i would like to publicly thank yngrodder and plowboy for picking it up and dragging it to the pileup for ben, it's heavy and it's twelve feet long, total, then there's all the two foot tall glass tube letters (not pictured) that are extremely fragile. thank you guys for the relay!
it's got a bunch of huge porcelain insulators on the back and everything is in perfect condition with the exception of needing new transformers, no big deal on something of this size and age.

i can't wait to assemble it all and turn it on! i'm actually thinking i may put this in the living room instead of the garage, it's that cool!
man, i love oversized art.

Wow. That is huge. Cool looking too.

If you've got room for another sign (not illuminated), let me know. I've got a big Kendall I'm trying to sell.

i found it on evil-bay in chicago, the seller did not want to ship it, local pick up only. that right there knocks a lot of potential buyers out of the running. with the help from a handful of HAMBer's, i had a relay bring it to me from chicago to kingman, arizona, which is an hour outside of las vegas, where i picked it up and brought it home.
i only payed $401 for it.
i've been offered ten grand for it, but it's not for sale.
it's is from the late 1940's, and my research showed that there was one guy, not just one company, that made these for ALL the firestone dealers nationwide. that's pretty damn cool!

Ok, I will give you a "you ****" for that one. They are few and far apart that I award that.
On that note, if I had paid 401.00 for it and some sucker offered me 10k, I would just have the hole in the wall where the cord used to be. lol... I would be looking for my next sign....

and after years of looking for a Firestone tire for this stand, i finally found a brand new in the wrapper tire, and i jumped on it! it still has the original labels on it, i'm excited to finally have this, i didn't think such a thing still existed.

Good for you! That is a killer sign!

Here's an example of how well you did...I just sold this "neon" about a month ago. It was missing all mechanical and all neon tube. I still got 1400 for it.

Amazing sign!

Did you need to have the tubes refilled?

no, they are still good from the 1940's, and i was surprised that they glow red, i don't know why, i just assumed they would glow white.

yeah, right on, good score! $1400 is good for you, and obviously it was good for the buyer too or you'd still have it.

finally found a N.O.S. nozzle for my pump, got a fine from the local HOA Nazis for having this outside the garage door, considering that we're selling the house in the spring and i don't want any hold ups at settlement, i moved the pump inside the garage

There was a firestone with a similar neon in my hometown and every time I drove through I thought call and ask. Never did. Gone.
Well done on getting yours.

thank you, you'd be surprised what you'll find for sale online if you scour the various websites and spell things incorrectly, and do vague searches. you'd be amazed how many "tork" wrenches are on craigslist for cheap because they are misspelled and no one came across their ads, same goes for automobilia!
