Popped into habitat before my youngest sons doctors appointment, and saw this. Immediately ran to it and asked how much. Saw the $40 price tag and yelled sold! Before they could swipe my card I was already taking it apart.

Been on the hunt for a few years now... the Saw is kinda beat up, looks like it had 5 or so switches at one point or another. But that's the easy part. Finding the double pedestal stand... only one pictured on vintage machinery, and not in half of the Craftsman catalogs. But, I haven't seen another for sale from NYC to D.C. In 3 years, had to have it!

Sweet deal! I also purchased the same model scroll saw from ReStore ($25) but on a homemade stand.

This model of scroll saw is relatively common, but the two post stand is not. I'm totally envious!

Right On! I love the stand. I just bought one, but it is on the large table-like stand. Mine has a belt sander that runs off the other side of the motor. I haven't started on my restoration because I started on the drill press I got for free with the jig saw. Congratulations.

Very cool and very rare. I purchased my stand a few years ago that came my way via Nevada to Michigan. And for a bit more than your price.

While cleaning it up, I realized there's a spot for a bulb! Now to find a real short Edison base bulb lol

But it's getting there. I'd love to strip it down and repaint it, but this is good for now.

Compared to the 16", this thing is a monster lol.

thanks jay! Looks like the bushing on the top middle of the walking arm is destroyed. Which of course is long discontinued. Guess a trip to the hardware store is in order to see what I can fit in there. You can hear it clunk without that bushing there.

Well, guess we'll see how long this lasts.... but giving this a shot for those bushings. They're the right OD, the inner I drilled out to 3/8". Stacked them 3 high on the top screw and screwed a turn past "snug".

So far, turning it by hand as fast as I can, the clunk is gone. Going to swap the motor from my 16" onto this Saw tomorrow night and see.

This nightlight bulb is the correct one. Fits very snug, but well.

I enjoyed seeing your post about the 24" Craftsman Scroll Saw. While I have seen the 24" scroll saws from time to time, I have never seen the pedestal base for one. It is probably the rarest of the pedestal stands sold. If you ever come across another, please let me know. Looks great!

I have found several of the lathe version which can also be used for two grinders.
I have found and seen a few of the 6" jointer version.
I have never found or seen a scroll saw version...
Not sure if there are any others out there but we do have a thread on the pedestals here somewhere.
